Three quarterbacks in the top four picks?

If he's involved beyond telling Fitterer and Rhule that we need to get a good quarterback, it makes me nervous.

I honestly don't think there are many situations where the owner isn't involved to some degree when you're talking about mortgaging the future of the franchise. Could you imagine owning an NFL team and waking up to find out via Twitter that your franchise just traded it's next three first round picks? I mean, yikes. That just doesn't seem realistic at all.

I get that, but the last thing I want is him overriding his decision makers.

If they say "this is too much to trade", he needs to accept that.

And he very well may. I'm just saying that I don't think there are many if any blockbuster deals whether it's a trade, big FA signing, or big extension that are made in a vacuum entirely excluding the input of the guy signing the checks.

Understood.

I just want to make sure the specific details are left to the people who actually know what they're doing.

The Dolphins are in such a good spot. IF the Falcons want Fields, I honestly think they'll have to move to 3 to get him.  The Dolphins could realistically drop from 3 to 4, while grabbing say a 3rd/4th rounder for their trouble of moving one spot.  Then field calls from us, the Eagles, or whoever else for #4 if somebody wants Lance there. Grab even more picks for trading down just a couple more spots, and still get the top WR or whoever they want.

Must be nice having the 3rd pick.

BUT we beat that team that whose name is not to be mentioned and our old coach, who could not put together winning seasons with a franchise qb.  Hang that banner!!

people get furious on this forum when you question the washington win, just LOL. this place really needs an IQ test.

No we're just bored of hearing it again and again and again when nobody can change what happened. It's tiring.

There's a reason why we're so fixated on Watson. We're basically sitting in a spot where we're going to have to trade the farm to land a QB so we might as well trade it for an established MVP caliber QB rather than rolling the dice on trading for a pick to draft a rookie.

Honestly, it's looking more and more like we're not likely to land the answer this off-season. We're going to end up with a Minshew or Trubisky and we'll likely be having this conversation next year about Howell, Rattler, and Shough.

I don't know if we have the patience to wait until next year.  I could see us making Miami an offer they can't refuse.

At a certain point we might need to hope other teams protect us from ourselves by refusing to do the deal regardless of what we offer.

I know I’m in the minority but I believe that Minshew can win here. As for Shough, I don’t like that he is transferring when he could start for Oregon.

I think Minshew can "win" here in terms of competing for winning seasons and playoff berths I'm just not at all sold that we could accomplish much more than that with him at QB unless we build one helluva dominant D.

This is the question --is Lance worth trading away future #1 picks?  Is Fields?  Heck, is Wilson?

If not, we will do what we have to do to get Watkins.

We won't have to.  All 4 QBs going before pick 5 is so highly improbable that isn't not worth fretting over.  No reason to be all nervous to jump to #3.  The 5th pick is only 300 points on a trade value chart from #8.  Even for QB inflation, you are not talking about much more.  We sit tight if we think one falls or move to up to #5.  Watson will cost us A TON MORE than moving up to #5.

3 game winning streak early in the season felt awesome. Pitching a shutout to the Lions with our young, patchwork D felt pretty good. Barely beating a terrible team in week 16 when your already out of the playoffs... not so much.

Like you, anytime we play I cheer to win. But the reality of what that meaningless win cost us is hard to ignore.

EDIT: Fug you Ron!

Beating Ron Rivera felt awesome.
