In here, I do the following:

  • Identify the most god fearing QB in the league for Cal McNair. Kirk Cousins. Done.
  • Identify the most ridiculous thing possible

I'm going for Watson right? NOPE.

But he is involved, it's trade time babes...

tenor.gif

TRADE 1

MIA gets Deshaun Watson, R5 2021 (MIN)

HOU gets: Kirk Cousins (MIN), 2021 3rd Overall (MIA), 2021 1st (MIA), 2021 2nd, 2024 1st (MIA)

MIN gets: Tua Tag (MIA), 2022 1st (MIA), 2021 4th (HOU)

--

In this scenario, the Texans don't take a QB at #3 as they've landed their perfect match in Cousins.  But that also either sets it to be us trading with NYJ orrrrr making an entirely new move:

TRADE 2

CAR gets: Dak Prescott (after DAL tag & trades)

DAL gets: Teddy Bridgewater, 2021 1st (8, CAR), 2022 1st (CAR), 2024 1st (CAR), Shaq Thompson, Donte Jackson

--

4.

Panthers Draft (in part)

2-Sam Cosmi OT Texas

3-James Hudson OT/G Cincinnati

4-Baron Browning MLB Ohio State

--

5.

Offense

Dak Prescott

Christian McCaffrey

DJ Moore

Robby Anderson

Jonnu Smith

Cosmi-Hudson-Paradis-Miller-Moton

--

WTF is wrong with this board? Y’all are acting like three first round draft picks is nothing. That is a huge amount of draft capital that could potentially harm us for a decade.

It really amounts to 2 firsts, as we will undoubtedly be spending our first rounder on a QB anyways.

They got Watson fever.  They want a quick fix.  Honestly I think the Texans are gonna want more than three firsts.  A player or two will be asked to be involved.  Oh and sorry I'll pass on Dak too.  In that scenerio if we include Jackson and Shaq we weaken the linebacker core and secondary.  Then turn around and put bandaids on the oline with cosmi and Hudson.

All those players were drafted 25th, 28th, and 30th overall.... He’s talking about giving away the 8th overall AND two other firsts which will probably top 20 picks...

Would you trade Burns, Brown, and Fields/Lance for Dak?

Still, I would rather take our chances with those picks vs take on someone else’s problems. We don’t have any problems sucking as the past few years has shown, let’s not start giving away any chance of landing a stud for the next three years.

Great point. Apples and oranges.

    • That's part of being patient too. Not rushing players into roles they aren't ready for. Make them earn it. If you convince yourself that "so and so" needs to start because they were a first round pick, even though they have done nothing to earn it, you have set up both team and player for failure. You can convince yourself all day long that "there is no substitute for game experience" but if the guy can't do his job in practice, he can't do it in a game. Not consistently, anyway.  Teams like the Steelers, the Ravens and the Packers ROUTINELY bench rookies to start off with and no one bats an eyelash. Even if the team is losing. Because that's what they do. They have set the precedent. The players have to show they are ready. Then they get their chance.
    • Let me provide you with some food for thought. Before this "now era" of the NFL, QBs were allowed time to develop. Everyone from the GM to the fans had more patience. QBs were simply better in the old because they were afforded the time to sit, observe and learn. It's no wonder that guys we threw away, or simply didn't want, have had varying degrees of success elsewhere.  Some Huddlers were talking crazy about Jordan Love and Lamar Jackson---just crazy...
    • I think the JAG debates are largely people having vastly different definitions of JAG.  The OG JAG LB debate was James Anderson.  And James Anderson is probably going to be ahead of Shaq on my alltime LB list (it's really close though).
