One less team looking at quarterback?

On the flipside...

“The question I get a lot is, ‘Hey, would you be willing to draft a quarterback, would you be willing to draft a receiver, despite how strong your receivers are or where you are with Matt Ryan?'” Fontenot said. “And yes. Yes, yes, yes. We’re definitely going to acquire at both of those positions, and we’re going to work hard to bring in competition. But I hold both those guys in high regard.”

Good, unless it's an intentional smokescreen, then bad

I do not see it.  They are not (to the best of my knowledge) shopping in free agency.  Keeping my eyes open, however.  Not sure bringing in Tua or drafting Jones would be great for the locker room (Bama).  Interesting to see what Philly and Detroit do.

Falcons:  if I had Ryan and his contract, I might draft a WR in round 1 and Mond in round 2.  Let him learn and work on fundamentals for 2 years, then Aaron Rodgers him.

I really think they will go WR in the first round, probably Smith from Alabama. If Jones isn't snagged in the first round, they'd be wise to move on him in the second.

Personally, I think Jones doesn't make it past 8, but what do I know?

    • I don’t remember Mills from the USFL days just when he was in NO.  But when you saw Smitty it screamed oh yeah, this guy has something. Immediately. So, have not seen anything that dramatic with Young. All I know about him says he is solid with his character and smarts and don’t see a lot of that translating into screaming he really has something. I think the people that say he could possibly acceptably run an offense designed around him, with top flight talent in support, are probably about right. But I can’t see any Pro Bowls or lofty accomplishments in my crystal ball.
    • I thought I read they’d still be there but as a backup in case of malfunction.  So it’s not so much a goodbye as it is they’re being sidelined (I’ll see myself out)
    • Their forecheck is relentless because they are so physical and heavy.  It’s just a perfect mashup for how they play. Florida before Paul Marice played just like us. Speed but with finesse.  Paul made them but into playing heavy. They went and got players that added to that style he wants and it works.  Plus they have the best goalie in the league.  That helps more than anything. The canes have got let Koochie be their guy he will never become the star that most think he will if rod keeps sticking with vets that flame out.    1. Koochie or a Soros type player  2. Switch to zone defense  3. Get heavier.    like I said, I love Rod. Best pro coach ever in the Carolinas sports buy he is holding us back with his philosophy and style.  He is the reason.  He can change all of that with decisions.
