Exactly. He did everything asked of him and he only started 1 year in college due to the talent of Alabama. Imagine what he could have done in four years.

So what do you go by if you throw out stats and wins when scouting?

It seems to me like you're omitting a big part of the equation.

honestly don’t know if your joking here. 
 

But Film and game tape.  
That’s literally all scouts care about.  They give 0 chits about stats or wins.  If it were the opposite, Josh Allen would’ve been drafted the 4th rd or later.  Watson would’ve been the top pick and not fallen to QB 3.

Grier wasn’t really that far behind and he certainly didn’t have a top 5/10 pick as his number 1 or multiple potential day 1/day 2 OL. Grier had an UDFA as his top guy and Jennings, who was drafted but hasn’t recorded a single NFL catch.

It seems like it is primarily the college football fans that can't really get past the stats and accomplishments in college. They just aren't as familiar with what it takes to be a successful NFL player, nor that it is a substantial step up in competition. Reference all the, "*insert name of undefeated #1 ranked college football team* could beat *insert the name of last place NFL franchise*" comments you see from that crowd. 

The stats aren't meaningless but the NFL is a relatively even playing field. There aren't many more uneven playing fields than P5 college football. Hence why it is important to study film rather than draft every college football All-American or NCAA stat leader. 

There is really no reason to even explain this to them anymore, you may as well just keep scrolling past these comments.

And folks who evaluate QBs like Simms and has done the job himself and has been right on for several.of the drafts says the film is good and he can make all the throws. As a 1 year starter his skills are much further along than you would expect.  So you are wrong, his film is actually very good. What too many are looking at is one picture where he looks fat.

Which is why a guy like Simms who.played QB in the NFL and has been right on with his evaluations over several years should be heeded. He said Jones is underated and given he was a 1 year starter is well ahead of where you expect. Not only does he move well in the pocket but he looks off safeties, goes through his progressions and did things in college that many rookie in the NFL still havent mastered.  Stats are just numbers but film is important and his is good from what I have read from folks who should know.

No this says little to nothing. I will go with Simms on this one who has a track record of correctly predicting who will be best in the NFL.

Just because Simms says somethings and gets a few right doesn’t mean he is the go to.  
Kiper hits some in a while but you saw what he said about Clausen now everyone is going back and laughing.

 

hell, Simms has Dyami Brown the UNC WR as a top 20 overall prospect in this draft.  Even my UNC homerism cant put him there.

 

 

Simms has a rd 2 grade on Lance.  While more of the clued in guys unlike the Kipers, Simms, etc chasing the hot takes etc.  All have Lance as a top 10 guy.  
heck @Vergehas said with her connections in the league scouts that Lance is looked at as a Top 10 guy.

You go by your fng eyeballs. 

A great pass can be dropped but that doesn't show on stats. 

A bad pass can be caught.

A pick can be dropped. 

Football isn't a math problem. 

This isn't poker but a bunch of STEM nerds are trying to make it out to be.

      Ya'll better quit throwing shots at Zod. He'll come in here and ban everybody. I had a friend @prosource who was banned in 2015 because he said some very minor things about Zod being an ass to the posters on the main forum after starting the All-Pro one. He said he felt like another level is cool, but don't punch down on people that don't want All-Pro. (He did say that it wasn't going to last long anyways.🤔) I distinctly remember him calling and being like "dude, I got banned, my profile says I don't have access to the Huddle!") I feel like once Tepper came in and cut off all unofficial access to the team, Zod was going to be around less. The All-Pro board had really good photos, even in game stuff, and I remember seeing him behind a little fenced in area at Wofford for non team sanctioned press/photographers after Tepper bought the team. I knew then his ego wouldn't allow him to continue with past fervency and effort with that reduction in access. Dude was literally in the locker room when JR was owner.  I came over in 2011 immediately after finding out this place existed. I was super involved with the Charlotte forum, and fell off after its demise. I will never forget arguing Pep over Ryan Sims on that forum! Who is Ryan Sims some of you may ask? My answer is exactly!

      And not see him running free. Because has been free a lot more than he gets credit for.    Now what XL does with that when he does see the ball, is on him.
