I am just saying there is a chance.  Lance is a good 2-3 years away from being a quality starter if that.  I like the dude but I am going to trust the staffs judgement.  He is 20.  Played in just a handful of games and that obviously was at the fcs level.   I am just saying it wouldn’t surprise me at all to see them pass on lance at 8.

Only 2-3 years away if the coaching staff put training wheels on him i.e. being Captain Clipboard.  He only needs to sit a half season or one full season max. Being 3-years out is only if a staff puts him on that time table.

Trey is more athletically gifted, hands down.  Yes, both need to work on their mechanics, but Lance's upside is much higher than Darnolds.

Get back to me when Lance scores a TD on a 50 yard scramble in the NFL.

Not gonna happen. Athletically, I think he's pretty much a slightly bigger Deshaun Watson. Josh Allen would be a decent athletic comp too IMO. Definitely a plus athlete at the QB position, but anyone expecting Cam or Vick or Lamar Jackson or Kyler Murray is gonna be sorely disappointed.

Oh well then. Darnold has done that - so I guess he's a better athlete than Lance, right?

Yeah, he isn't. One lightning in a bottle play doesn't make an athlete. The odds of Darnold pulling off that run was next to zero. The odds of him replicating it again probably are zero.

We get it, man. You're happy with a JAG QB and don't want to take a chance on getting better.

About the same as putting premium in a Ferrari with no wheels.

Darnold would be better than Bridgewater.

I'm not happy with investing the #8 pick + probably something else on the 4th QB in the Draft (I'm just not sold on Fields or Lance). I'd much rather spend it on a player that's going to improve the team - and keep that other pick to spend on another player that improves the team.

The 4th QB picked wouldn't necessarily be the 4th QB on our draft board and the 4th QB picked in this draft class very well could be the 1st or 2nd QB drafted in a lot of other draft classes.

    • Well there goes the bullied victim spiel.
    • Not sure who said it first, but Tepper is the correct answer. Still, I'm gonna go with Kasay keeping it inbounds. If, you subscribe to the butterfly effect version of time travel consequences.... When we win SBXXXVIII everybody's lives change: Moose never breaks his leg, We win it all again in 05. Tommy Jone is unknown and Peppers stays home, Champs once more 2008. No artificial pig heart turning JR into a creepy weirdo, no lockout, no Clausen. Fox and Jake ride off into the sunset on their own terms. No 2-14, no #1 pick. But, no laptop, no Blinn, 3 years behind The Golden Calf of Bristol, we still get Cam. JR let's him grow his locs like he always wanted, Smitty sees Cam in a new light. Dreads swinging, (and Smitty with his 3 Lombardis behind him) Cam is old enough to get those calls. No Manning narrative, Cotchery TD, PI against Talib on Philly Brown, 10,000 RTP calls and Kony Ealy SB50 MVP. No Jeans Fridays, no Tepper. KB doesn't slip on his own meatsweat mid-route in SD, Cam becomes the 1st QB to win 10 straight SBs. Retiring after being elected 47th president of the US of A, Cam ushers in the Permanent Proletarian Revolution across the globe, Xi Jinping bows in awe. "ẄøŘƙƐṛ§ őF ŧĤə ŵØRłð, ŮŊÏŦƐ!!!"
