No doubt it looks like UNC & Miami for the Coastal for the next 5 years.

I’m curious, why is Brevin Jordan a projected 3rd rounder? When I’ve watched him, he’s looked like a game breaker.

Cos he's undersized and has never stayed healthy enough to play a full season.

I think I am following the Basbear vs. 45 side bet as much as the draft itself.

Only a madman would make a bet that 5 or less DTs get picked before round four/106th pick!!

Got to back up what I thought months ago about the DT pool being straight trash, 45 felt there was plenty of DT talent before round 4.

Reminder I put this into the bet- The pick *MUST* be labeled as a DT, when they are announced. Im banking on two maybe three 3-4 teams view some of the guys as DEs(of course for money reasons they may list them as DT..).  Its going to closer than I first thought and still feel its like 3 guys then....wait til the 5th round before it makes sense. Plus those comp picks may be the death of me, should have fought harder to end the bet before any comp picks started.

We are all mad here, Basbear.  It is as if you chased a white rabbit into a hole in the ground and found a whole new world...

He’s 1-2 inches shorter than the average TE, but the guy moves better than average for 250lbs.

I mean I've literally watched every College snap of his. I doubt he played at 250lbs at Miami - I'd bet that's Pro Day weight.

To me he's an H-back type TE (lines up in the backfield at times / put him in motion). Jonnu Smith is a good size comparison for him.

I don't think he's as good as Njoku (who's misused in Cleveland - I'd LOVE to trade for him) or Herndon. I don't think he's as good as Mallory either - but then I like my TEs who can play above the rim.

That said, he's dynamic, for a TE, when he gets the ball in his hands and a willing in-line blocker. He'll carve out a good career somewhere in the NFL. He'd be the best TE on our roster - but ideally he'd be your H-back / 2nd TE rather than the main guy.

A 3rd round pick is fair value for him and, in the right system with the right QB / OC combo, he'll be a problem.

Well I hope the Panthers wouldn’t pass on someone in the third round who would be the best we have at the position.

Nah.

YOU are right--I have been thinking that since about January---read it somewhere, but cannot find it, so I am inclined to think it was another TE--Sorta like Pitts, I almost hesitate to call him a TE because he may not be treated as one by the defense.  I was surprised by his blocking and his YAC.

What does your gut tell you?  It's going to be tight.  I'm thinking the push (6) will win out honestly.

I am not at all high on the DTs.  I think there could be controversy, in that some 3-4 Ends will be listed as DTs--but if you are thinking pure 1 and 3 techniques, I have 7 or 8 in the first 2 days of the draft---but I do not like them---they could drop.

    • Honestly, I view the rest of this season like every game is a division game - meaning you can throw the records out.  Throw the perceived favorites out.  Every week, we have to show up and punch them in their mouth.  We’re gonna have to gut it out.  We can’t go into games against well coached teams and think, “well, the Rams already got that one, McVay is just too good of a coach and they’re too talented.”  “Can’t beat the Niners.  Shanahan is one of the best and they just play everyone so tough, even with injuries.”  We have to go into each game feeling like everyone counted us out and we have to show them why they’re wrong.  And speaking of the Niners - that’s the exact blueprint we need to be looking at - for the last, it seems like at least 5 years, they have been decimated with injuries.  And they still contend to win their division and make a run in the playoffs every year.  Even while starting a plethora of QBs.  Even with their best defensive players being out for the bulk of seasons…  their DNA doesn’t change.  They compete.  Their standard is winning and nothing less, so even if you’re the 3rd stringer forced into action, either show up and play to that level or find another team.  This should be our approach and I think the Saints game was an important wake up call… I occasionally listen to whatever ESPN show is on sports radio in the mornings with Chris Camry and I believe it was after we beat the Packers, they asked him about us and he said, “they’re a young team learning how to win.”  And that is about as accurate or a description as you can get.  It explains the hiccups and the struggles.  But it also explains why it looks so good when we put it all together.  What we need now is our guys to have that light bulb come on as a collective and never look back.  I hope last week was the start of that and it continues tonight and for the rest of the season..
    • The veterans played better last night and they actually were looking for Kon but Bridges and Sexton went for a combined 2-15 from three. That is so bad.
    • https://www.talkbasket.net/206848-lamelo-ball-frustrated-by-hornets-struggles-amid-durability-concerns "Charlotte Hornets star LaMelo Ball is reportedly frustrated by the team’s lack of forward progress, according to NBA insider Jake Fischer." Apparently in his mind being perpetually injured and playing less than Gordon Hayward while on a supermax contract has no effect on the forward progress of the franchise.
