I love how fans always view aging veterans as player mentors. That is why teams hire coaches. Personal coaches, specific to positions. 

 

Want to bring someone in as a coach, do it. Doesn't count against the 53 players or salary cap.

For the right price, yeah I would. 

Dude went through a very similar clusterfug in SF years ago, he'd probably be able to provide Darnold some good insight/direction. Also would be good to have a vet Backup in the QB room. Have Darnold stay in his pocket much like McCown his rookie year. 

Honestly, low risk, if it's for the right price, why not?

For what it's worth, his skill set and experience would have made him a good fit here.

Andy Reid thinks he'd make a great coach. If Brady winds up getting a head coaching job and Sean Ryan succeeds him as OC, maybe we could talk to Smith about being a quarterback coach.

Isn’t it good to have another QB gone so maybe we can get rid of Teddy? Supposedly there were a couple teams that wanted to sign him.

Nope.  Crazy that fans are wanting to bring in a older, mediocre, vagabond QB on his last leg, literally and figuratively, but are willing to pass up a QB in the best class in recent memory. Only on the Huddle...
