In fairness, he will likely never be as good as Cam either. It's was easy to forgive all Cam's "eccentricities" when he was one of the best offensive weapons in the NFL.

Good is not good enough, till you win a Super Bowl, no?  Sadly, he is remembered outside the Panther and Auburn fan base for the eccentricities mentioned.

A good player can just play for a bad team without weapons and a not so good oline, and not win the Lombardi.  He couldn’t lift them up that high.  Some fans would prefer an Eli Manning, who played ok, not much charisma, but came up big in the clutch on the biggest stage.

Cam led the best offense in the league during his MVP year with the likes of Philly Brown and Ted Ginn.

He lifted them as high as he possibly could. His coaches and his offensive line let him down.

There is absolutely no reason to hate on Cam. Ron and Co. ran him into the ground. He is now a hollow shell of his former self. But him and Luke pumped life into an otherwise lifeless franchise at the time.

Im optimistic because the overwhelming majority of voices external to here see potential in the change of scenery. I have to give some consideration to how widespread that sentiment is. He has the tools and the mindset. It's no skin off my back to be an optimist about sports.

Sorry, my post was more tongue in cheek, mixed in with a little snark....

In fairness, Darnold doesn't have to be as good.  Especially if he has more capable teammates and coaches.

Football isn't easy, but it doesn't have to be as hard as it was for Cam.  There are plenty of QBs wearing SB hardware today that didn't have as much talent as Cam has in his pinky finger.

My bad, dude. Some people on this board legitimately hate him that much.

Don’t hate any player, even opposing players.  I’m a mom and a CFB fan, never boo’d a player in my life!

The kid has played in California and NYC. He has been coached about how to handle the media. He is not going to give the jets and bulletin board material

I think he is also remembered for the player he was. Much like Michael Vick, he was a weapon of a kind that hadn't been seen up to that point.

He elevated the franchise when we were floundering.

C’mon Sam, give us a “blood & guts” type quote for what the Jets game will be like week 1.

It’s hard to endear yourself to the fan base if your press conferences are as vanilla as that.

Hardly anyone is gonna remember news conferences regardless of how entertaining they might be.  The only thing most people will remember is if the Panther won or lost, because that is all that really matters.

TLDR:  Wins will endear Sam to the fans not news conferences.

I’m sure a lot of football loving women across college and NFL, will never forget certain press conferences. 😂

Wow, I was scrolling reading the comments and listening...

My take from all this...

Y'all really want Sam.

The bash on Cam, a guy who put Carolina on the map, took them to the superbowl, best record in franchise...n trust I dislike him now that he's a patriot...never forget 03...sorry off subject.

But some of y'all are showing true colors. Compared him to a pimp...how many pimps R whi...let's not go there...but it's quite clear this past year has taught us nothing.

Nvm that what I think is Sam just doesn't have that "IT" Factor...

I hate Z.Wilson, and believe he's a bust too but I can't deny he has something...and IT's there.

Andy Dalton after he got his hair cut has more IT to him then Sam

Minshew's mustache has more "IT" in it than Sam...

Look at his eyes as he talks, focus on that right one, at times that left one jumps and he tries to straighten himself out... forreal press play no audio and just watch him....man I'm starting to feel bad for how I know he's going turn out. He the best underdog to root for, I understand the jets had a very bad situation with him at QB, see what I did there...lol. But seriously, PJ "All I do is Win" Walker...

Now how was his interview???

What happened to the culture of no clear starters...

“We’ll have to wait and see in term with any moves we make in the offseason and where we’re headed, both at the quarterback position and any position," Rhule said.

does PJ have a chance to beat out Sam come training camp?

Laughable.

Go back and re-read the thread.

How so?

You're comparing a starting QB relocating to a 22 year old college graduate moving to a new city for work.

Said college graduate isn't occupying a job that only approx. 40 people on the planet are capable of doing at a high level. They're most likely making the coffee.

It's apples and oranges.

Plans can change on a dime, you know?

Nothing is set in stone.

And what Rhule said there is Coach-Speak for "We're looking for a QB as we don't believe we have one" which is basically him saying that PJ is not "the guy".
