PFF says the Panthers have the 20th(!! LOL) ranked WR corp in the NFL this year

Before getting so upset people might want to actually try reading the article.

Its not a ranking based on last years grades.  Its an opinion piece by one of their writers that is looking at WR/TE groups as a whole, and he even states that depth is a huge factor in his rankings.

He even states that based on grade we had the 8th ranked unit last year.  Also states that with Moore and Anderson we have one of the better one-two punches in the league.  Also sates that we have some pieces to be one of the better units this year.

With all that being said the fact is we lost our WR3 last year who we replaced with a 2nd rounder and a cheaper vet (Moore) and we didn't really get much out of the TE position last year, which we replaced with a 3rd rounder who isn't really known for his pass catching and cheaper vet (Arnold).

Who we replaced at TE was Manhertz. A decent but unspectacular blocker.  Arnold is definitely an upgrade in the passing game.

fair point, I should have said "added" not replaced.  We still have the TE (Thomas) that really didn't do much at all last year in the passing game.

Either way it was a opinion piece based on the WR and TE groups as a whole, so honestly i can see us being middle third based on past history.

Maybe Arnold gets more opportunity, maybe Tremble plays great as a rookie, maybe Marshall plays great as a rookie, maybe all of that happens and we are top-5 or 10.

Honestly I think there is a decent chance we use CMC a good bit in the passing game, and therefore some of our WR and TE numbers might appear disappointing to some of our fans.

Though I agree that people don't read the articles they react to. Just didn't understand how replacing a blocking TE downgrades you. Though these rankings are all useless.

One can see how Ian Thomas could be a dark horse.

Meanwhile, PFF says Christensen was the highest graded tackle in college, and most of you eat that up.

90% of the people that bitch about PFF will still use it when it suits their argument.

I have always liked PFF and I think they overall do a decent job. As someone pointed out earlier, they just lack a lot of self awareness about how their rankings can sometimes net some extremely goofy results. They need to put more effort into continually improving it.

Also, as a former subscriber.....their fuging interfaces are absolutely awful. Not nearly as user friendly as you would expect from a paid service.

People read headlines like this and complain about their rankings but they don't even take the time to read the article.  It wasn't a ranking based on their grading system.  It was a subjective piece by one of their writers looking at WR/TE groups as a WHOLE.

Most of the time when someone complains about PFF its due to the fact they didn't really understand what they are commenting on.

People don't read anymore, they just react, bitch and moan.

It's a product of a larger problem with society. They see a headline, get outraged and start spouting whatever preconceived bias they have about the subject without even opening the articles or attempting to understand it.

We have been reduced to being a society of perpetual outrage. It's extremely annoying. Critical thinking is almost extinct.

So, you insult a large portion of the human race. Because? They annoy you.

Got it.

I do my darndest not to insult people. It's SOP for you.

In another thread. You just insulted most of the fan base because they don't fan correctly according to you. How dare they get excited over draft picks outside the 3rd round.

Look in the mirror.

Now get in the last word. And I promise never to engage with you again.

I don't keep a perpetual scorecard of discussions in here because I don't care that much. Obviously this weighs heavily on you.

I pity you in that regard.

Well, I am not a hyper emotional teenager, so why would I recall some grievance you are in tears about?

Not to mention that your take is almost certainly hyperbole if not an outright fabrication.

    • okay I found this and it sounds like my hopes for the first surgery being not such a great job seems like it could be actual reality.  I only hoped because that would give a better chance for recovery and ia a possible scenario so I just thought it could be possible. Had no real evidence of it. But I’ll be damned.    This is a detailed report of Brooks’ surgery and the condition of his knee after the failed repair.     https://x.com/jmthrivept/status/2055743129408704806?s= Sparked by some very good questions by @CoachspeakIndex, here’s some info on Jonathon Brooks: 1. Speculation that the first graft/ACLR by Dr. Cooper didn’t “take” or at least was too lax, leading to failure and re-tear. Brooks dealt with issues cutting, progressing in his rehab into the early stages of 2024 and then re-tore it late 2024, requiring a second ACLR in January 2025 (essentially revision). Notably, CAR prolonged Brooks’ rehab process through Sept-Oct due to issues progressing into the next stages of rehab. 2. Second surgery performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache, who has extensive experience with revisions. He did a double bundle technique, harvesting graft from Brooks’ left patellar tendon and a strip of his right IT Band (his right patellar tendon had been utilized for the prior graft in 2023. The double bundle technique significantly increases rotational stability of the knee, leading to a stronger and more secure graft/reconstruction. Also to note, Brooks’ surgery wasn’t significantly delayed, meaning that the tunnels from his prior ACLR were in good shape and they didn’t need to perform bone grafts to fill in (would have delayed 2nd surgery by 5-6 months). Essentially, reading the tea leaves tells me that everything else except for the graft itself was still in good quality within his knee. Good sign for future.  3. Typically, you see a performance increase anywhere from 16-20 months post-revision. Brooks will be ~21 months out from his second surgery by the time Week 1 hits. His knee should be more stable and stronger this time around, with adequate time for healing and return to all movement patterns. I’m not viewing this situation as a typical “Player __ had TWO ACL tears, he’s cooked” situation. Rather, I’m viewing it as the first procedure failed, but the second procedure is significantly stronger and should allow him to return to form this time around. I don’t know why it posted as a link but there it is.
    • Jackie, any more reps tomorrow, or is that it for this session?  thanks for the work
    • How can you say they aren’t trying to win now with all the moves made in free agency? Or is trading first round picks the only way to be win now? I’d be fine never trading another first round pick again, win now be damned.
