Homers on a Panthers’ Message Board? No way?! Most of us here are Panthers fans (believe it or not) and will be optimistic about our team during the offseason.

Then don’t have them ask someone to prove their opinion has merit and respond by dismissing it in the name of homerism and nothing else. Any slightly realistic post is just attacked to maintain the illusion.

You want to debate anything I post and I’m all for that. Why else come here? Just so clueless homers can agree on how great the team is on their way to another top 10 draft pick. That sounds fun. Call it the “Sunshine and Puppies” forum.

Also...being labeled a reliable nfl starter is not an insult

He had total 21 tackles in the month of November and he ranked 50th in solo tackles in 2020

He recorded 0 sacks

your goose is truly cooked sir

I love how the ones whom claim he's average, can't back it up, and then expect other to disprove them. Sorry, but I work for a living and won't waste time with your childish games.

If you don’t like Panthers fans being optimistic about their team I suggest you go find another hobby. Debates are great, but complaining about fans on a Panthers Forum being “homers” about their players/team seems a little naive. It’s going to be that way in every teams forums.

Let entertain your perspective.

The team obviously doesn't agree with you.

So in order for you to retain your perspective, you must now assume that our professional staff don't know what their doing.

Over your opinion. Over the "unbiased" opinion of pff.

And yet all you nay sayers are alright with that level of ignorance.

Homer it up all you want. But don’t attack any(and every) poster who has a legit question about the team. Just like you are doing now, the issue is dismissed because it’s not “optimistic”. Do you really need this place to tell you everything is wonderful until reality hits in September?

How about all of the posters that don’t want anything but positive news and opinions make a list of what we are allowed to say and discuss. So as not to offend their delicate feelings. Would that help?

The team signed Teddy, paid KK 13M, signed Boston, Weatherly, Whitehead, Roberts, Apple.

I was against every one of these moves. How about you. Want to compare my record to the team. Which naturally would be where you stood on all these moves.

PC should probably stick to your one liner posts, no one can prove shaq is average without stats which you seem to hate yet offer no alternative and in the same breath think your emotions prove he’s great while referencing a contract from Hurney as proof the team feels he’s great too lol

homer and a fan are different

fans can be critical and homer’s cant

youre the same guy who loved the KK extensions and signing despite other ‘idiots’ not agreeing with you while his contract crippled the team

same person who thought Fox and Rivera were the greatest coaches of all time and did no wrong and JR was an excellent person/owner because enter justification here

this is a homer in every sense of the word, with zero self awareness or critical thinking as a fan defensive with insults, quick to point out inadequacies yet no solutions

Nah I think the crying of homers is just dumb on a team’s board. You can debate with data all you want.  I have no problem with realistic posts, but griping about fans  being optimistic or excited about their team is pointless.  I have a better idea. People who aren’t fans of the Panthers can just not post on forums dedicated to fans of the team if “homers” offend them. I’m sure there are plenty of Steelers fan forums where you can bash other teams all you want.

Look there are several posters on this forum that are just here to be critical and troll the fans here. If this guy thinks Shaq is above average/good, who cares. The argument over average starter/good player can really come down to opinion. He went from Luke to Whitehead with young players all around him. I personally don’t think he is anything special, but who cares if someone else does. I’m just annoyed at the trolls/fans of other teams on here constantly talking down about the Panthers on a Panthers Fan Forum. Let us fans have our offseason hype, if you want to debate about players that’s great. But (not you) I’ve noticed some are constantly against the team, and really can’t figure out why they are posting here.

Thanks for exhibit A.

And just like you did ITT, you and your homers question me. I just offer up a point of view. One that keeps coming true over and over and over. And the homers object but only can offer up this same cop out of “you’re not a fan” after their lack of knowledge runs dry.

Someone made the comment that Shaq was supposed to be TD but was average at best.  Lots of people consider Shaq a disappointment, but I'm not so sure.

Its sometimes useful to compare players at similar points in time to see who might have the better career, but in this case its a little tricky for two reasons:

1. TD was hurt and missed much of his 5th year, and practically all of his 6th year while Shaq has been healthy through his first 6 years

2. TD shared tackling counts with Beason early in his career whereas Shaq had to deal with two tackling machines - TD and Keuchly.  He may have started most games but he would be pulled often in passing situations so his numbers are somewhat deflated by sharing the field with these two.  He actually played less than 50% of defensive snaps his first 3 years.

Having said all that, here are the 6-year comparisons...

Starts Tks Avg. Sack FF+INT TFL QB hits
TD 54 392 7.3 11 11 36 23
Shaq 76 470 6.2 9.5 5 35 22

Shaqs avg. Tackles has actually creeped up to 7.6 per start over the last 3 years as TD and then Luke exited.  Otherwise the sack, TFL, and QB hits are remarkably similar through 6 years.  Again - remember while Shaq was starting, he was not playing every down.  Shaq played less than 50% of defensive snaps his first 3 years.  I don't have similar stats for TD, but I would wager he wasn't coming off the field very often in favor of Na'il Diggs.

It remains to be seen whether Shaq can be as good as Davis, but he is just getting started.  Davis didn't make his first pro-bowl until age 32.  Shaq is 26.

And now the trolling… You have basically become just another Sizzle. Lack of knowledge? You have these pre-made trolls loaded up without any context? There was no knowledge being debated. Just said if you are annoyed with Panthers fans being optimistic about their team, maybe the Panthers Fan Forum isn’t the best place for you. I would say nice try, but honestly it wasn’t…

Whether or not I agree with all moves is not an acceptable argument.

One can be unbiased and question without 100% agreement.

They admitted their mistake with Teddy and moved on.  Boston worked out well for us until we could further upgrade the position.  Didn't agree with Weatherly, once again they moved on.  We can say the same for the rest, even though the reasons they didn't work out are different for each.

You broke the branch you just went out on, and failed to support your original argument.

Congratulations.
