It’s way too early, but PFN had a 2022 top 50 and 10 were OL and another 16 honorable mentions and 5 were OL. So, 15 of top 66, a little under 25%, which based on 22 starters is about the same ratio so I guess it’s about average. No idea if they are uncurling underclassmen but should be plenty to go heavy OL, only problem is the lack of a 2nd, which is typically a great spot for IOL.

The way I look at it is, Paradis, Miller, and Moton played rather well together. So that side should be ok. Not great by any means, but not a total dumpster fire either. Put BC at LG, and throw everyone else at the LT spot. May the best man win. Plus we have Tremble to help, and both CMC, and Chuba are very good at Picking up the blitz.

It may not be top shelf, but we should be able to go to war with that lineup.

I would not be adverse to throwing some money at a LT in FA, but only on a real LT that can man the position for years. If that fails. Depending on how this year goes, an all Oline draft may not be out of the question.

This team is set up so that Oline is the last unit in need of attention. Fix that LT spot once and for all, and this team has potential.

I fully agree that it is Josh Allen.

@ZodAny particular player(s) that caught your eye from how much they've improved?

Out of Pride Jr, STO3, Taylor, Melvin, and Hartsfield who all do you think has the best chance to snag a spot on the roster behind Jaycee, Donte, and Abouye?

How did Sam Franklin look, if he caught your eye at all? After reading up on him when the team initially signed him last year, I expected somebody that they'd try to develop into Chinn-lite while contributing on ST. He played DB at Temple for his first two years, started at the nickel his Jr season, and started at LB his senior season (which was where he was listed during his rookie stint last year). The roster on the Panthers' site has him listed as a safety currently.

Having a Chinn-lite would be great! We can run a Double Chinn package in honor of Fitts!

I was looking to make a Chinn pun somehow and absolutely hate that I missed this most obvious of options. Thank you for helping me keep my Chinn up.

Welp. Guess that shows what I know. 🙂

I think during this time of year, we can be a little freer with the main posts.  We've had posts on other teams lineman, superbowl 50, bold and meek predictions.   There isn't a ton of news so when a newscaster gives us some love, I thought it might generate some discussion.  I really didn't see it posted on this thread.

Me too. But the average football fan wouldn't watch enough scouting and tape to figure it out. They would see highlights on espn of baker Mayfield throwing a 50 yard pass and it being caught so he must have the strongest arm.

Hey, I'd never disparage you. You're a quality poster.

Frankly that's a good bellwether post. Some posters on here would start a thread to share a pundit's tweet and would just get Poo'd into oblivion. Others would post the same and get praised. Comes down to their track record. You should feel flattered, because it speaks to the Huddle's high opinion of you. Rock on.

Nice of you to say.  I just post stuff that I think might stir up conversation....things I find interesting.

Panthers minicamp observations: Sam Darnold didn’t have a great day, and that’s OK (yahoo.com)

Here's another summary article on our minicamp by the Charlotte Observer reporter.

Pretty much the same stuff reported on the thread.

Up front is where Darnold will see more noticeable improvement. He was pressured on 42.1% of his drop-backs in 2020, the second-highest rate in the league out of qualifying quarterbacks. Conversely, the ultra-conservative, get-it-out-quickly passer Teddy Bridgewater's pressure rate was just 30.9%.

Yes.   Howeer, we have new olineman and   we hope to take advantage of Darnolds range, which will take more time for those plays to develop.  It SHOULD be a better situation for Sam, but we really don't know what we're looking at yet.  We've tried to moneyball the line.  A lot of people think that is a bad plan.  I'm more wait and see, and give the new guys a chance.

    • I think it's strange that you still can't see where I'm coming from, and I guarantee you don't have more faith in him than I do.  You're looking at him in a vacuum, not about the team around him and the likely offensive game plans this season. We're going to be a run first team with 3 receiving options better than any of the other players on past rookie 1k seasons. If you can't understand that, then it's a you problem, not a me problem. Arizona's previous basketball coach, Sean Miller, used to do something at the first team meeting of every season and I think it's soooooooooo applicable to this situation. He'd have every player right down how many minutes/points they expected to average that season and then he'd add them up.  It would show that if they all hit those numbers, we'd score like 125 points a game and need to be playing 7 guys at a time to get their minutes. That's pretty much how you guys are putting your T-Mac expectations out there, looking solely at the player and what you think he should be able to do, not how the offense will operate as a whole. Every yard one player gets is one less yard someone else can get.  It sounds like I just have more faith in Thielen, XL, and Coker this year than most everyone else.  But a big reason for that faith is because of T-Mac and how much he'll open things up for the rest of them and Bryce being the type of QB to take the open easy passes than force it to his #1. As I've said, if any one of the following happens... Thielen ends the season sub 700 yards, XL or Coker end up sub 500 yards... Then yes, I will then shift my expectations for T-Mac's rookie year to be at least 1,000 yard season. But since I have faith in those other 3 having solid seasons, it tempers my expectations yardage totals for T-Mac this year, and this year alone.  I've also clearly stated many times that I think he's going to reach 10 TDs. If T-Mac ends the season with 800 yards and 10 TDs, while Thielen gets 900-1,000 and XL/Coker each get around 600, I don't see any world where that is a failure for a rookie season for T-Mac. Because again, we're talking about expectations, not what is possible.  So given the other WR options, I can't EXPECT T-Mac to get to the 1k mark, which is a far cry from me saying I don't think he can get there. Do you really not see the difference there?
    • I don't recall anyone seeing this coming.  I mean, two seperate things for me.  I thought BB just might not work in college football because he is old grumpy man and college is about appealing to young kids.   So yeah, that could of gone great or horrible.  Coin flip.  This isn't that convo for me.  what we are witnessing right now play out.....this was never part of the disaster possibility/path discussed lol.  Really weird stuff.  Or maybe I missed the part where UNC hires a 20 year old "girlfriend" that apparently runs the Bill operation and before the season even starts is taking over more than just Bill but influence of the entire UNC operation.  That was her getting that official statement made today.  It was her sabotaging the Hard Knocks UNC show because she somehow wasn't the star.  Seems like elder abuse lol.  Only largely kidding.  You even got Charles Barkley saying he normally doesn't talk about personal lives of his friends but he might have to check in on Bill because this ain't normal stuff lol.  Anyway, it's entertaining.  Everything is a cartoon it seems these days.
    • I think its strange how you were claiming this guy was the second coming of Mike Evans and you can't even get behind 1k yards? I guess I have more faith in him than you
