Tagging a player doesn't make then happy. Tagging them twice is a good formula for them to sit out a year and them go to the highest bidder.

😂 you're joking right? No way that happens stop being an idiot.

"Bidding" by other teams isn't an option after year-2 of tagging.

0.00% chance Moton sits out a year and even if he did he'd still be obligated to play for the Panthers if they chose to tag him for a 3rd season.

Next!

That's a problem here.  People saying things about people that they just make up. Next person takes it as truth  and....

Give me a break. It's been said on here ad nauseam in multiple threads, so after year of it you ask me for a source and say I'm making it up?

There are 2 types of tags, exclusive and nonexclusive tags so no it isn't automatic that no one else can get involved. Secondly Bell sat out when he was franchised twice recently so it isn't 0% that Moton would do the same. Finally he is going to be signed longterm so this is not worth going back and forth.

Only if you apply the exclusive tag and again that has only happened a few times in league history and isn't going to happen here so not worth the arguing until he at least plays one year on the tag.

Plus Le'Veon Bell sat out recently so 0% is an opinion and not fact at all.

And since a player holding out wouldn't have signed their franchise tag agreement they don't have to pay anything back and wouldn't be under contract.

Carolina Panthers OT Taylor Moton

This one might have become a little trickier when the New Orleans Saints reset the right tackle market by handing Ryan Ramczyk a five-year, $96 million extension last month. The question is if Moton thinks he's worth something similar, because that would be a problem. Ramczyk has been an All-Pro, and he's missed just one start in four NFL seasons since coming into the league as a first-round pick in 2017.

Moton was a second-rounder that year, and he simply isn't quite on Ramczyk's level. There's a big gap between Ramczyk, Lane Johnson and every other right tackle in terms of average annual salary, and that could be a problem if the Panthers feel something in Jack Conklin's $14 million range is fair while Moton expects to fill that gap between Conklin and Johnson (who makes $18 million a year).

With so much up in the air right now as Sam Darnold comes to town, I'm not sure Carolina is willing to fork over more than $14 million per season when Moton will make close to that on the tag. This might lead to one more prove-it year.

Prediction: The tag remains in place

Carolina was a pushover on their last two big money contracts. Now they want to play hardball with their best offensive tackle when they have a patchwork offensive line already? Not a great look.

Slow your role a bit there grasshopper. There is a new Sheriff in town. This Sheriff has yet to handle any big time contracts. Maybe we can, oh I don't know, let him deal with this one first before we decide if he lives or dies?

Blame the past regime for their ineptitude, then project that onto the new regime, then call it a bad look. lol You can't make this shitt up. Well apparently you can, but wow, just wow.

Also, I really liked how you just know we are playing Hard Ball with Moton. Making shitt up to prove a point. Unfortunately, that happens a good deal here in Huddle-Land.

If I could bottle Patience, I'd sell it on the Huddle. Man, we'd all be living in the Bahamas'.

We can skip the back and forth theatrics this go around. Let me ask you straight up. Are you concerned about left tackle? There is nothing wrong with being apprehensive at the sight of Carolina repeating the same approach that has given us one good season of left tackle play (2015) in a decade.

You keep harping on past Panther sins. Then projecting those sins on the present regime. Don't fret, you are no where near the only Huddler doing this.

Take a look at the CB room. Last year it was not very talented. This year it is a team strength. How come you never bring this fact up as a positive for the new regime? Because it is not a negative per chance?

The Dline 2 years ago was abysmal. This year it is a Beast. That is all on this regime.

We have no idea what the Oline is going to look like game 1. I will wait to decide if I am angry, or pleasantly surprised, once I see how they play.

I get the logic you are trying to go with but it doesn't compute. We have invested three 1sts and two 2nds in the secondary and defensive line recently. The defense better look improved for that level of cost. Do you remember the last time Carolina drafted an offensive lineman in the first? Jeff Otah in 2008.

    • Yeah I think he's just talking continuity it's not really an endorsement. Also I would think CarolinaHuddle of all places would understand using "we" for the team you follow. I can't STAND when dorks do the "Oh so you play for them then? Hurr hurr"
    • Kon is a damn stud but it’s not any individual player’s team. All of the “big 3” are incredibly and equally important IMO. And LaMelo makes Kon way better (look at his shooting splits with LaMelo on the floor vs without. Also Moose and even Miles are important cogs. Honestly think we’re 1 piece away from being legit top contenders if the young guys continue to develop the next year or two. I trust this FO to be patient to find that piece within the next 2-3 years and not force anything. Plenty of time and even without adding anyone we have the pieces in place overall already to compete with any team.
    • We lost 2 very close and winnable games against top teams in the league while missing 3 critical players despite 2 of our top 3 players shooting unusually terribly. Still split the 4 games that Moose and Miles were suspended, winning the most important one vs the Hawks. This ain’t yo mama’s Hornets man. Hopefully Coby can go soon but even if not Moose and Miles are huge additions for our starting lineup and bench rotations. Schedule is pretty tough after these next 4 but I think we’ll take care of business the next 4 to get to .500 then finish slightly above .500 after that to get a 7 or 8 seed. Keep it rolling boys. Also Kon is having an insanely historic rookie season as a shooter. Like truly can’t believe my eyes watching this kid level of historic. Man what a fuging home run of a draft pick and exactly what this team needed to take that next step forward. He’s gonna shatter the rookie 3 point and franchise 3 point records. Has a real chance to be the 2nd best 3 point shooter ever or dare I say even get to Curry’s level (as a pure shooter, Curry obviously has way more to his game that has made him a GOAT).
