REPORT: No movement in Panthers’ talks w/ Taylor Moton

If they can't come to terms on a multi-year deal they will absolutely tag him again and I'd fully expect it to be exclusive in nature.

How'd that work out for him?  L. Bell is an unstable idiot -- Moton is not.  To project how Moton is going to behave based on an what moron like Bell stupidly did is a complete joke.

Again waiting to see what happens tomorrow before speculating on what might or might not happen next year.  Chances of him not signing appear fairly high but it seems the reluctance is on Moton not the Cats. Still hopeful something long term can be worked out.

Wow, that's an awful lot of hate for a person you have probably never met, or talked to, or have any idea what is actually going on in his head.

We would wind up paying him, if we franchise him 3 times, approx 52mil. So about 17mil a year. Not bad. The question becomes, how is Moton going to handle being tagged 3 times? I can't even venture a guess.

Other than Walter Jones I can't remember a player actually playing 3 times on a franchise tag. Multiple folks have been tagged twice but the large majority were signed long term before the second tag took effect. It is used as leverage to get a long term deal. Teams and players don't expect to actually play multiple times with the tag. Usually because the cost gets prohibitive.  The cost next year will be 120% of the average of the top five guys salaries at offensive tackle or 120% of his prior salary whichever is larger.  So the amount may be greater than simply taking 120% of his salary this year or adding 144% to what he is projected to make next year if other guys get big contracts when the cap goes way up next year.

Most of the time making comments like that tells you more about the person making the comments than it does about who they are made about.

I did start by saying that my numbers were shaky, and they would be approximations. I was just hoping to be close.

But yeah, I want that long term deal done. I don't want our first attempt at keeping a star player to go down the tubes.

I also agree that if we give Moton a 4 or 5 year deal. Not matter how much it is, by the time the deal is done, it will not look nearly as bad. So I say go for it.

I truly do try to only respond to post that are actual football related. I hate getting sucked into those throwing shade tirades. It is too damm draining.

But it is getting more, and more difficult to ignore those. Mainly because there are just so many of them. Then you get sucked in, and then you feel like an idiot for falling for it again. lol It's a vicious cycle.

I get it. You try to take the high road and keep things civil but it is tough when others constantly take low blows and it is tolerated on this board with no repercussions. I guess I have always heard we teach folks how to treat us.

Thankfully, there are still a bunch of Huddlerz who still like to discuss football. So at least we haven't sunk out of sight. Yet. But we are on life support at the moment.

And we do have a couple really good Trolls hanging around. They can be extremely entertaining. Folks trying their dammdest to talk sense into a Troll is priceless.

I will say, man, I hope we start fast this year. Cuz if we start the year out badly. This place may be toxic.

Just sticking up for our man Moton.

When folks start lumping Taylor in with that wing-ding L. Bell something's gotta give...

You know it's a bunch of joe schmoe fans talking when they actually think this man is going to want to sign three separate tags. The best interest for TM is a long term deal especially for a lineman where there are so many potential variables out there on the field involving their legs in any given play through hundreds of football snaps.

Part of me wants to say, you go boy. Stick up for our guys.

But part of me wants to say. Is there really such a thing as a good excuse to disparage someone?

Kirk Cousins got to three, or am I mistaken?

Im firmly in the two year tag group, while keeping options open.

Absolutely nobody "thinks" that Taylor "wants to sign three separate tags."

However, in order for the team to get the best possible deal for the team, Moton's camp needs to understand the franchise will use all 3 if necessary...
