Postgame thoughts. Preseason game 2

Both of these things can be true simultaneously. Hoping, and wishing Sam has success for your team, while at the same time acknowledging one of his weaknesses during his first 3 seasons has been an inability to process information and get through his progressions quickly. As much as I like him, I also have eyes and watched every single game of his young career. My personal feelings about his success has no bearing on making an honest and good faith assessment of his strengths and weaknesses.

Uhh....you're not the only one who watched every single game of his young career, you know?  🙄

What you saw as an "inability to process info and get through his progressions quickly", I saw as him trying to find one lone player to make a throw to because the rest of the team was GARBAGE!!

Also, I saw him as trying to play "Hero Ball" because of said team being GARBAGE!!!   😡

If they would've surrounded him with actual TALENT, he wouldn't have been forced to play way over his head at that point of his career.

You can't make chicken salad out of chicken s--t, as the saying goes.

And as far as I'm concerned, It sounded more like you hope Sam will struggle against the Jets (which I guess is understandable since you are still a Jets fan hanging around the Panthers board) rather than hope for him to have success.

One of the biggest factors (Brady's offense) won't be fully seen in preseason so I'm unsure how dicey things really are. I'm also not in panic mode but we definitely need to make an OL and K move after seeing week 1 and 2.

I view us as a team improving year by year and on the uptick, so good interesting vibes with the franchise.  Not at an end of an era, and not an all-in situation.  If there is not significant progress with performance and O playcalling, then yes, there should be pressure on the staff but it's super early to tell anything.

OL does concern me, but it's not dead in the water for 2020.  We can get crafty and pull out an avg/slightly above avg line.  Let's see if they do before the reg season.

Fans are still to worried about the backup QB. If you needed a backup QB you keep the guy who played back up quality last year.

This team isn't good enough to worry about a backup QB. If Sam stays healthy we have a shot at the playoffs.  If he goes down, no backup in the league we could realistically get is saving us.

For real, who are we trading for? Trubisky?

Yeah I get the Saints freaking out with the Brees thumb because they have the roster but if you’re down to QB2 just Chalk the season up as lost.

He had decent talent around him on O in 2019.  Then they went full on tank mode in 2020.

Aside from Crowder, who would be the 4th (or 5th) best receiver on this team, where is this "talent" you are speaking of?

I watched and saw a washed up Leveon Bell, and a who's-who of who-the-hell-is-that-guy players that sound like they belong in the Practice Squad or something.

I mean I was "kind of" familiar with Demaryius Thomas but he was nothing to write home about.

And at times, Sam made a virtual unknown Ryan Griffin at TE look like he was Tony Gonzalez or something.   And that bodes well with him and Dan Arnold becoming a thing.

Like I asked : Where is this "talent" that was surrounding him 'cause I sure as hell did not see any.

oh and btw, I'm sure the "decent talent" tag was helped because Robbie was there.

There is so much wrong with this post. The only true statement in it is the Jets being garbage last year.

    • If they screwed it up, it’s one pick. Kind of like if we’d taken Levis maybe, at 9 in 2023. That is their worst case.  Would you rather do that and hit or miss, or what we did?
    • He is a QB, on a rookie deal and Cousins is old coming off an achilles injury. Which QB they got is the part that is highly debatable if it was good. Yeah they could have used that on more tallent but Cousins doesn't win in the postseason so it wouldn't matter anyways. Chances are good they take the NFCS regardless this year or it goes back to a Bucs team that just breaks .500.
