I know nowa days it’s edgy and easy to bitch and point out flaws, but can everyone complaining about PFF please provide your metrics and why it’s valid and then inform us of how the Panthers oline stacks up?

I know it’s a lot to ask for substance, but I think it’s important.

Also we need metrics with 0 flaws or subjectivity please. Serious request.

It's been proven wrong about a billion times. No need for our on "metrics".

Not Panthers related, but PFF graded Hurts at 69.5 and Dak at 68.5 on Monday Night Football last night. Anyone that watched that game and has a half functioning brain watched Dak control that game for 60 minutes (other than the egregious fumble), while Hurts didn’t look like a serviceable NFL starter for most the game. Dak’s QB rating was 143.3 to Hurts 86.0. I’m not sure how that grading from PFF is defensible in any way.

Careful.  You're going to hurt some peoples feelings. 😉

That so funny to ask for metrics to study pff which is, itself a subjective made up number based on some dudes' opinion.

Through three games:

Matt Paradis: 67.0
Brian Burns 59.1

Ah my favorite argument of them all. You can’t criticize PFF unless you have your own metrics to grade on.

I just want to ask you a couple questions to make sure we have logical consistency here. You have never criticized a professional athlete (since you have never played pro sports before), correct? You have never criticized a meal at a restaurant that you don’t know how to make, correct? I could go on and on but I think you get the idea. Dumb argument. Next.

That literally makes zero sense.

Literally all I did asked how people judge their oline and I see no one is coming up with anything other than attacking the post and more PFF…lol. Figures.

You guys basically validated my post and are actually  too stupid to realize it good lord.

Oh man. It actually makes a ton of sense. Your brain has exploded and it’s not even lunch time yet. Literally, have a great rest of your day.

It doesn’t make sense because you are arguing a point - not judging something with no experience, that hasn’t been brought up. We are all clearly doing that. What was brought up was criteria.

There are elements of a food dish that make it not taste good outside of subjectivity. Just saying it doesn’t taste good is dumb.

By doing so you’re not offering anything, maybe because you don’t know how, but that’s laziness and is just bitching. Therefore validating my post. Offer substance. Anything. If you don’t know how, learn to understand how. Articulate the fact. Bitching is easy.

Seems like after a 6 pack watching just the Panther game and seeing the oline by ‘tEh eYeBalL tEsT1!’ theory which lacks more than substance than PFF, not only because you don’t watch every single lineman or know the assignments either, but have zero metrics, flawed or not for comparison sakes, you just have ‘feelings’, and have no comparison because you’re probably not watching every other team either.

Focus on comprehension a bit more.

Oh, you're not asking for metrics to evaluate pff, you're asking for metrics on everything else.  It varies from position to position and looking at an individual on an OL is very difficult.   Between double teams, blitzes, and us not knowing the assignments, it is just hard.   Evaluating a line as a whole is much easier.

For passing: Sacks, Pressure%, Pocket Time.    For run blocking Yards Before Contact and Yards per attempt.

2021 NFL Advanced Stats | Pro-Football-Reference.com

We have the 8th most pkt time  but the 9th highest pressure%, 22nd highest sacks, 16th highest in QB hits.   The Houston game was BAD.  We had 3 sacks in that game alone and Houston is not considered to have a very good DL.    But the average pkt time went UP after that game from 2.3s to 2.4s, indicating what I thought I saw... that Darnold was hesitant and holding the ball longer.  If Sam gets the ball out in 2.3s, like he was before Houston, we'll see sacks and pressures go back down.

Yards Per attempt we're 28th, and Yards Before Contact we are 31st.  Our run blocking is not great.   Jets and Saints had 2 of the best run D's in the league last year, so I expected it to be low, but Houston didn't help.  We're not making big enough holes.  It also doesn't help that Brady pulls sht like sending Chuba Hubbard up the gut on 4th and 1 when the opposing team is in goalline/ stacked box D or that we overuse CMC so that everyone keys on him.  QB sneaks for 1st downs brings down that average as well. Rushing for 1st downs, we're 16th.

Everyone get's frustrated with their OL.  The huddle LOVES to HATE on theirs.  Its a kind of virtue signaling around here.  Our OL isn't great and just had its worst game.  But the first two games weren't as bad as the huddle described.  Huddlers just want 1st rounders on the line, so we can be like the Jets and and then PFF will show us love.  Then they'll say its because we choose the WRONG 1st rounders, and if we followed THEIR draftboard, we'd have the best linemen in the league.  Meanwhile if you look at what  they pushed this year  they aren't all that hot either with a few exceptions.  Even a stopped clock is right twice a day.

Dude you don't have to come up with your own stats. You can see it with your own eyes.

Do you think Kirt Cousins(47) is a better QB than Aaron Rodgers(83)? PFF does.

Do you think Derrick Henery is the 65th ranked back in the NFL? PFF does.

Do you see Richard Sherman as the 13th best CB in the league? PFF does.

I could go on but I hope you get my point.

My man, if you spend your money on PFF and like their goofy subjective grades that's fine. That's your own deal. But everyone here is laughing at you thinking you're going to White Knight for them on this board. I've seen a ton of respected analysts laughing at PFF for grading Hurts higher than Dak on MNF. If you and PFF want to live on that fantasy island then by all means, you do you.

I'll tell you what. I graded Dak as a 91.3 and Hurts as a 48.4 on Monday. For $34.99 a month (or $199.99 a year) you can gain access to my reasoning as to why and how I got those grades. Let me know!

That's exactly the way I've felt as this early season has unfolded. The bright side of this disaster is that we can imagine what Darnold is really capable of once we get the line sorted.

I mean, what's his ceiling?!?

And we basically did the same thing to Cam his entire career.

"Just wait and see how much better he'll be once we fix the offensive line," and then did fug all until Cam was too broken and bloodied to retain.

Let's not make that mistake again. So tired of kicking this can down the road.
