Someone said this yesterday, but I think the best course of action if we do get him, is to willfully sit him down for the rest of the season, make him do some sort of redemption, as in setting up a fund for abused women or something, do community service, speaking engagements, the whole 9....then come back at the start of next season ready to kick some ass.  This season is a wash already anyways.

I don't think you are going to get anyone in the organization to agree to that. They all want to win as quickly as possible. You might see him sit for a game or two as he learns the playbook but I think that is about it.

The PR will be terrible but he isn't likely a candidate for the commissioner's exempt list based on a civil matter. Supposedly, they have no plan to put him on the exempt list if he is traded.

Do people even still care what the fake news says? Public trust in the media is (rightfully) as low as it has ever been. I don't know why they'd be seriously worried about PR.

Man no disrespect but the only person tweeting this is Verge lol - I'll eat my crow but I just don't believe this is going to happen.

And what has she gotten right other than being right on some suggested moves? Nothing said Watson was happening this offseason then said it was dead come-lyly lol just trying to get ahead of the moves and gain some credibility if she was really like that the tone would be consistent throughout the process

Duh. Big Al is a huge man with those sweet, old school post moves. Watson is probably one of those guys that just jacks up 3s.

Joking aside, the premise remains that if Tepper is the one pushing for a trade, then he is the same sort of impatient, meddling owner, that MJ has been in the past. Also, the trade could end up being one of the biggest mistakes in franchise history.

But it could also be the thing that makes us contenders for years to come.

It's a gamble, no doubt about it.

I’m on board with that. Sit him and tank the rest of the season. We need as much draft capital as possible.

She is just a conduit for a source, basically. Holding her accountable for second  or third hand information is a little goofy.

I have news for you, we have very little draft capital in 2022 and if we trade for Watson, it will all be gone. There would be zero benefit to tanking in that scenario.

That will all be part of the public relations. Watson’s community service work will be double to anything that Cam did when he was here. Cam did a lot and he didn’t even have a negative public image.

The only issue I have with it is that we know who her "source" is and its basically like you said 3rd hand information at best and no better than the guys like Rappaport, Mortonson etc.  How would a dude from another franchise know what the texans and/or the panthers are doing?

Yeah, that's really irked me as well. I appreciate the "inside" information - but at the end of the day I typically approach it as baseless/throw it at the wall maybe it will stick.

    • It appears that he sees things differently than the QB and OC, so Cam's advice is spot on. It isn't about number of targets, it's about quality of targets. Trust and being on the same page. BY doesn't know how to anticipate what XL is doing. And XL doesn't like where BY is placing passes. One on one film study would go a long way. More for BY than XL though. He has to adjust to XL. I really don't think XL can adjust on the fly.
    • If the team shows improvement, then he shouldn't be in danger of losing his job - even if the record doesn't reflect. This was a very young team (with a lot of new vet starters) that overperformed last season. Somebody's doing something right. Consistency is key with so much youth. And we're potentially looking at new starters at ILB and FS. Those are positions that take time to fully understand the defense. ILB calls the front 7. Safety calls the back 4. Injuries at WR and IOL killed the offense last season. Depth needs to be upgraded. Same with Edge. I think they would have won more games if Pat Jones doesn't go down early. Be smart with the roster and draft. Trade players for assets when it's time to pay them more than they're worth - yes, that includes BY if he doesn't make a pretty big jump. That's one of the many reasons Tillis is as important as anyone to the future of this team.
    • He had heart surgery a while back he looks Fraile I hope he is okay
