The WR's are much less of a problem that our bottom of the NFL QB play(and bottom 5 OL play).

They are largely mirroring the poo around them.

It's a sign of poor coaching. While everything isn't Brady's fault he should be coming up with ways to score more than 3 points.

The dysfunction is bad enough that I ultimately hold Rhule mostly responsible. He hired the dude, he had last word on Darnold and he had the last word on the OL.

Tepper made him The Guy and as The Guy, he is getting The Blame.

I really think Chuba is good enough to start in this league and do very well. The drop off from McCaffrey really isn't all that drastic. Most of the problem is that Chuba is open on the check down but Darnold would rather throw a pick down field.

Chuba is a back up plain and simple he has 101 touches for 419 yards we’re CMC has 64 touches and 368 yards. Then when CMC is in he faces a lot more 8 man in the box which opened up our offense for our WR . Chuba in the game Defense never are concerned with him and that’s why the passing game has went backward.Chuba is also not great at picking up the blocking on passing downs. He might be open on. check downs but he also has dropped passes and that’s why the QB doesn’t have confidence in him.

Chuba is what he is he has potential. Two of the best factors going for him are he can actually get onto the field and he isnt the highest paid at his position. Weird but not surprising  that some people hate on him so much but still make excuses for others.

And how many more 8 man boxes does he face?

Does anyone have real numbers on that?

CMC has a spy on him on most every play

Yep, and defenses game plan specifically for CMC.  No team builds a defensive game plan around facing Chuba Hubbard.  As I stated earlier, his style is suited to be a 3rd down back, however his hands utterly suck.

That's a myth.

Down and distance dictates a lot of that.  3rd and 10, passing situation, of course someone is going to watch him coming out of the backfield, same would be true with most RBs.

1st and 10, a lot of teams are going to play 8 men in the box, not because of CMC, but because its a running down and down and distance.

I'm not saying he doesn't get more attention than Hubbard but it is severely overblown by this fanbase.

McCaffrey is the single most impactful non-qb offensive player in the NFL when healthy. Hubbard is a fantastic backup and a competent starter but to say the drop off is marginal is a horrendous take.

Darnold has been bad the last few weeks but I have to think he'd look semi-competent with McCaffrey out there. Even his presence helps make receivers more open and when they're not, he's pretty much a guaranteed 10 yards on a check down play. Him being out is definitely the most undertalked about part of the Panthers slide and really can't be overstated.

The myth is thinking Chuba is a quality starter. Every time they interview opposing D cordinator they all talk about game planning to stop CMC never game planning to stop Chuba. The 8 men in a box CMC sees a lot more than Chuba and the stats back it up as facts. CMC 61 touches 368 yards 1 TD vs the 27th , 13th and 26th Defense. Our offense in the games 381 yards ,383 yards and 407 yards for a avg of 390 yards offense a game. This counts the Houston game for both of them. Chuba 101 touches 419 yards 1 TD vs the 26th , 23rd,17th,16th and 20th Defense . Our offense in the games 407 yards,379 yards, 267 yards , 306 yards ,173 yards for a avg of 306 yards Offense a game . The numbers tell that now Chuba is getting more attention because he’s is the starter our Offense is going backwards. This is the facts not a myth. But if we’re in rebuild we should trade CMC while he still has value .

None of those stats tell you how many are in the box.
Watch the tape.  For identical downs and distances are teams using different alignments for Hubbard as opposed to CMC taking in to account that teams tendencies for all RBs.

    • Sometimes its fun to read the threads/posts.  The panthers could literally hire a groundskeeper and we'd have a thread "improving the field for no other reason to prop up Bryce Young".  Apparently no move is ever done to actually make the team better.  All a conspiracy to just focus on Bryce Young. Or suddenly daydreaming and reminiscing about Sam Darnold when he was hated more than Bryce Young.  Its really fun to do a message board search about Darnold during that time period.   Or thinking there is just a tree that grows QB, and you can just easily go up and pluck one.
    • Yeah okay. We as an organization have been more patient with him than many. And there has been a small parade of guys drafted since he was, also to bad teams, that have passed him. Some have lapped him. As a fan I am out of patience but he gets this year it is out of my hands always has been. I just hope the bar is higher than it has been for him.    FWIW, XL dropped two passes last year. He did do some other bad stuff, just saying.
    • Except it takes those QB's a few years to develop because they needed to learn the mental side of the game and have it catch up to their physical attributes. Bryce was supposed to be a QB savant who already had a fully developed mental side of the game and that was going to make up for his lack of physical ability.  And his lack of NFL level QB physical traits has been clear as day to anyone who has watched him the last 3 years, mainly, he just doesn't have an NFL arm, he can't zip the ball into tight spaces or throw on a line down the field like is needed at this level.
