He’s at 3.7 and he’s getting worst as the defense starts paying attention to him and so has our offense went backwards with him .He is terrible in the passing game .So if you like avg or below avg you must be ok with us going 500 or worst every year

Sigh.

Do you watch?  Watch him play.  Yes, his hands are not great.  This can be said for a TON of backs who have successful careers.

He's played in six games this season.  He's had exactly TWO where is YPC was less than 3.7.  Coincidentally, the same number of games Derrick Henry has been below 3.7 YPC.  I don't see too many people questioning Derrick Henry's viability.

Let's also not minimize just how BAD our line is.  They are tragic, especially in the middle where the push for running really starts.

Let's say that Chuba is "average".  It's pretty widely known that the rushing champion hasn't won the SB since 1998.  Is it REALLY that important to be "great" or can you get away with an average RB?  Seems pretty easy to argue that you can get away with an average back.

Could the reason CMC hasn't been playing is because he knows that he's gone? That injury did not look bad at all, he was barely even limping.

That’s  what I’m thinking but can you trade somebody who is on IR or would they have to make it next week

We need to draft another back next year, and use CMC in more creative ways. Motion out wide, throw him in the slot, take some pressure off the guys on the outside.

It's crazy to me that y'all really think getting rid of CMC is an option. These 100 catch, 1000 yard receiving RUNNING BACK! You can win in this league running

And playing good defense. We did it for years with D-Williams, Cam, and Stewart.

With what picks though? But even if this is the case if we draft another back we need to get out from under McCaffrey's contract and actually build an oline.

Gotta scout, and take the best available guy. Look, there is no quick fix for this situation. We gotta get some maulers up front for CMC and whatever quality tough runner we can draft, and you can scheme plays for these receivers. If we can sure up one side at the very least, it'll be a huge improvement.

Still have to identify the right qb moving forward while navigating the 18 million we guaranteed to Darnold next year. You are correct there is no quick fix but if we have an opportunity to draft a replacement and move on from McCaffrey we will have to reluctantly consider this. Those cap hits the next couple of years only get worse and you can't ignore trends both him and Saquon have been banged up a lot and the Giants didn't even need him or their top three receivers to make quick work of us. As others have said it isnt the 80's anymore you need someone other than an rb to be your leader.

Definitely need more than a RB1 to win, and you're right, Giants didn't need Barkley to beat us, but we're a bad team. Great players are the difference between playoff teams and super bowl teams. If McCaffrey is demanding Herschel Walker to Vikings value, if get it. If he's not, sometimes it's cheaper to keep her. Again, CMC is not just a running back. Tremendous value in the passing game. Let's see how he looks coming back before we pull the trigger on this kid. He's a proven commodity.

    • Maybe a bit of a homer take but I can't give us a grade lower than A.   Freeling was arguably the best LT prospect in the draft.  His athletic ability is off the chart and at 6'7" that can move.  It was a no brainer pick.   Hunter's key word is Violence. Putting him next to Brown should scare an offensive coordinator. These two give Scourton and Phillips plenty of chances to get one on one opportunities. Brazzell, another tall receiver with sprinter speed.  Our WR room is filled with tall talented WR.  Brazzell is going to give us a WR that can take to roof off the defense.  Basically Jimmy Horn with size. W. Lee III has a nickname of the Blanket. (heard this on the Beleav podcast with J. Stewart)  What a great name.  A great value in the 5th round. Hecht A strong, fast and extremely smart center. Many had him listed as the best center in the draft.  He's most likely a starter sooner than later. Wheatley A good safety in round 5.  Someone who could see playing time.   Kuwatch  I love this pick.  At minimum he will be a key piece on special teams and with some good coaching he'll see some packages where he'll play.  His down piece is he doesn't stay up in the running game.  Good coaching will fix this.  He reminds me a bit of A.J. Klein.   All these picks were great value.  I believe everyone of them were graded higher than the pick we took them.   Dan Morgan is IMO doing a great job turning this team into a good team with great depth.
    • Moton is a class act.
    • Sure, that is possible. That’s what, an extra 55 yards a game on average and 7 more TDs? What if he’s just 15th?  I imagine they would extend him in that situation due to the belief that he’ll keep trending up. maybe a 3 year contract to prove he can be top 10? Sounds like a Tepper plan.
