Again you are getting way ahead of things because of your love for Cam. As a Panther fan we all hope Cam does great and our QB woes are gone. But that is far from given and right now Darnold is already getting paid. He has not really gotten a chance to sit and learn from a veteran pro. He is our back up or starter depending on how Cam and PJ do the next 4 weeks. There is plenty of time to evaluate everything after this season is over.

He does more damage on the team then off. His cap hit doesn’t change that. The dude is done. I wouldn’t want him as a backup. If he starts next year we are fuged. If he has to come in to play we are fuged. If he’s a backup what purpose does he serve? He’s not good at film which is evident by his complete and total failure at processing what is happening on the field. The only positive thing he has is he’s a good teammate. I’d rather we bring a backup in that is competent.

Can we fleece ATL or something with Sam.

Believe it or not, Ryan is actually having an above-average year by his standards – he's played well, and the emergence of Pitts / Patterson has somewhat offset the practice squad receivers and the 30th-ranked OL. On pace for 4,300 / 30 / 12.

Again why make any judgements until after the year. If Cam is great in this lineup then it is Darnold but if Cam has the same issue it might be the line and playcalling. So you let Cam play 4 games and then see who gives you the best chance to win the rest of the way. Besides Darnold could be a great backup who can win a game if necessary. Maybe sitting and watching will do him good.

Yes back up but not starter.  It's all 3 Darnold is not a starter. I just haven't  seen anything that warrant 1st rd pick Darnold. He is just meh.

I was referencing the 2nd try thing. They are not the same. Sam is a back up but expensive. If you can get anything for him that can be on the field more than a back up qb go for it

Think this is getting blown out of proportion. What we will do with Darnold is put him on IR and in 4 weeks see how Cam is doing. Darnold is signed through 2023. Those who were upset we moved too quickly from Cam seem to have no problem doing the same thing with Darnold. Maybe we should learn from history.

lol the situations couldn't be more different. One was a former MVP and one is looking like one of the bigger QB busts in the last decade, and Darnold's resume isn't even the same universe as Cam's when we got rid of Cam.

Already covered this ground repeatedly. Try to keep up. No one is comparing them as quarterbacks simply saying there is no reason to decide anything right  now. Cam hasnt played a down for us yet this time around. Lets see how he does and then decide where to go.

Regardless of what Cam does Sam ain't the answer. The only people who have any inkling that Darnold has possibility of being our starting QB next year or beyond is his small fan club sprinkled on this board. I don't think Rhule even believes that anymore.

    • You literally did it right there and didn't even remember it. Sorry long Friday.
    • TMac to finish up Feels good after pads came on. Physicality is a little different, playstyle is a little different. Refs let the players play, so he has to earn his stripes to get calls and just has to be better playing through contact. Focusing on staying confident and listening to coaches. Not much has changed for him, still trying to be his authentic self. Was asked about boxing practice he was seen doing. He's done that since he was a kid because his dad was a boxer and taught his siblings. Was the youngest and got beat up the most, but now he's the fourth of sixth children. Boxing helps with his cardio and being reactive with his hands to the ball + DB. Admits to struggling the first couple of days, hats off to the DB corps for making him better every single day but had his best day on Wednesday. Even the best get got. Just have to remain confident in preparation and abilities. Confidence will take you only so far, and that's where his resilience plays a factor. XL is authentic and great to have in the room. Can rely on him to be the same guy every day. They make each other better. Everybody feeds off of each other and when one person wins they all win. Happy to be a part of the receiver room. Was asked about how he was laughing harder than everybody else at XL getting his feet in the water off the back of the boat: "Man he needs to be stopped bro... He can't be serious but he was serious. It's all good." Playing against the increased amount of press he's facing in practice is helping him get more physical. His job is to catch the ball, so if it touches his hand he has to come down with it. Only catches with one hand if he needs to, but that gives the QB a bigger catch radius. Had a pregame routine where he did a 360 one-handed catch, but doesn't do it anymore. Working on being a pro: Getting into the facility early and getting treatment, eating better, etc. Just wants to win re: rookie goals. Anything he can do to help the team win. "I'm looking for to the season man and keep pounding."
    • DJ Wonnum up next Felt the defense came out ready to work at all levels and took over practice. New standard around here. Young guys have to know they're coming in to work. Last year was not the standard. Nic and Princely are fun. Different personalities but loves what they bring to the room. Sky is the limit for them. Nic sits next to Wonnum, Princeley sits next to Jones II. Allows them to be better mentors. Feels great and ready to go Incoom's athleticism allows him to bend and get low even to compensate for not being the biggest guy. Can set the edge. EDGE guys are helped when the ILBs can get home because it allows them to be a little more free while still in scheme. DB being back means his dominance is back. Can set the edge from the 3 or wherever he's at to make the runs bounce to the EDGE guys. Winning mentality and standard this year. Championship level from practice to how you live off of the field. Accept greatness and excellence with guys wanting to come to work every day. Not settling for anything less. Been in guys' shoes that are fighting for roster spots so he knows how to address them. Remembers not knowing what's next, especially as a rookie. Have a clear mind and ask the older guys a lot of questions. Has a good relationship already with Pat Jones II due to knowing each other and talking football all of the time. Can make hand gestures and know immediately what to adjust. Taking care of his body and excited to start the season. Getting it acclimated to football again by being able to tackle and bring players to the ground. Didn't know they were playing live tomorrow. Don't tell me it'll be "thud." Browns next week will allow them to hit somebody else and get a feel of what a different team is doing. Also allows the team to see where they're at on offense and defense. Ready to play football. Not worried about the QB matchup for Cleveland, going to play hard regardless of who is back there.
