DAVID TEPPER: WHY WILL NEXT YEAR BE DIFFERENT IF YOU KEEP MATT RHULE???

David Tepper owes the fans an a legit explanation why Matt Rhule is being kept for a third season.

This was probably the worst Panthers team since the 2010 season. Which is amazing given how much “better” the defense is supposed to be.

Matt Rhule doesn’t have a signature win in 2 seasons as Panthers head coach. The 2021 season ends with a 7 game losing streak and losing 12 of their last 14 games. There is no way else to put it, this team SUCKED. They got blown out in many games and even gave up against the freaking GIANTS who are finishing 4-13.

The fans need an explanation why an obviously unqualified head coach is being kept for a 3rd season. Is your goal to tank in 2022? Are you too embarrassed to fire him because of the massive contract you gave to a coach that was 0-11 against ranked teams in his college job? Did you even know that before you gave Rhule that contact? I bet you didn’t!

It’s ridiculous Matt Rhule is coming back. This team is clearly poorly coached and everyone except the people inside the organization seem to realize it.

Show us your brass balls and admit you made a mistake. Next year won’t be any better if you keep this guy.

Tepper, please step away from the football operations. Offer Kevin Colbert a blank check to run the football operations and you just play Monopoly money with the business side of the house.

And enjoy your wins!

Or... keep trying to recreate the wheel with NFL novices and enjoy your losses.

Yep. Brilliant in finance doesn't automatically mean brilliant in football. Colbert is only 65. Tepper is 64. Colbert has already announced he's retiring after the draft. Unless it's due to health or family reasons, convince him to come fix this mess and mentor a heir apparent. Pay him whatever he wants. What's it to you? You're worth billions. Tens of millions are a rounding error. You say you want to build a winner. You say mediocrity isn't acceptable. Prove it. Right now, we need considerable improvement to get back to mediocrity. Marinate on that.

Honestly, if the reports were true that Tepper was one of the part-owners leading the charge to get Tomlin fired, I wouldn't be surprised if he and Colbert don't exactly see eye to eye, considering how that situation played out.

Reports out of Pittsburgh would indicate that Colbert and Tomlin aren't exactly best buddies.

There's apparently been a bit of a power struggle there.

If he possesses the level of intelligence he is reported to have, there is no way he has watched this season and can rationally arrive at the conclusion that there will be any improvement.

And that is why it feels like just a huge middle finger to the fanbase.

I mean how freaking hard can it be to manage a hedge fund? I would think the hardest part would be getting the money but after that Helen Keller could be in charge of it and you would still be straight

Well, maybe he's seeing that he was the dumbass in that scenario. It happens. We're all dumbasses occasionally. What separates the dyed in the wool dumbasses from the occasional dumbasses is largely the ability to recognize when you were being a dumbass.

I'd be interested to know the dynamics there, for sure.  Because Tomlin has remained while continuing to win, and they consistently excel on roster building and talent acquisition and development.

Meanwhile, Tepper in Carolina...

    • With the contract money an OT first rounder makes you can ALWAYS get a new girlfriend.  And probably an upgrade at that.  You only got 2 parents.
    • Brother. You are wholly confusing comparing situations and applying actual standards like most other franchises do like simply getting into a playoff series and winning at least 1 or 2 series games with praising. Nobody is praising the Hawks. Nobody is praising the Magic. Nobody here likes those teams. But reality is reality. The Hawks like other franchises have traded players fired coaches etc but they can still win a couple playoff games. How is that not the bare floor for you or anyone else? What are we doing here if it isn't? We've seen eye to eye on many things over the years. But you are in the camp on the Hornets where you are emotionally attached to LaMelo where you feel the need to carry his water like he's got that juice. That's cool that you feel that way. It's your prerogative. But I differ from that viewpoint entirely. If he had that juice we would not have gotten wiped off the court in 2 play in games with 2 different coaching staffs and rosters. if people don't like hearing that well I'm sorry but how the hell is this team ever going to get better and ultimately go anywhere in the postseason if we just blindly pat them on the back for getting their asses whooped before they actually even get into the real playoffs? There seem to be some Bryce Young level standards being applied here. That's wild to me. But to each his own.
    • Proctor/Freeling were always the belles of the ball where we were picking. What those two *could* become at OT was far greater than what others could be at their respective positions and I’m glad our FO could see that.
