You really think? I don’t think so. I think they’re going to roll with Sam again and build him the best o line they can. Then see what happens after that.

I think they're getting a new QB.  Nobody thinks Sam is actually the answer. He may be on the roster and he may even start games next year (especially if we trade for a player made of glass), but I think they'll spend significant capital to improve the QB position, either with the first round pick or perhaps trading for someone (like Jimmy g)

Jimmy G would be a mistake

"Deonte Brown isn't ready."

I don't know what his grades looked like.  He only played a few series.  I noticed him twice.

On the 4th down where Sam tried to sneak it left?  Yea, Deonte moved his man back.  Might not have gotten in the end zone, but he definitely got enough for a first.

And then this time:

The guy NOT getting pushed back into Sam's lap?  Yea, that's Deonte again.

Again, haven't seen his grades, he didn't play a bunch . . . but are you (*$@ing kidding me?

I missed the game and just watched the Youtube highlights, seemed like the OL looked a lot better on I'm guessing their 2nd drive when Deonte was in? Every snap on the first drive it was chaos but when Brown was in at least Sam could step in to that quarter of the line for an extra half second.  But then they took him out for that 4th and 1 near the goal line, where that's the optimal time to have Deonte and Cam in a package like that? I'm guessing Rhule was hoping Sam could get in the endzone to further justify his reason for taking him, but don't understand why you'd take the brick wall out.

Joe Person thinks they’ve already decided to move on from Sam.

I assume we were the only team that needed upgrades at 4 of 5 OL spots and knew their OL was their weak spot. I also think when you get to your 10th pick in the draft, that's when you take a chance on an OL who was a 2nd/3rd round grade on talent instead of taking a long snapper, which is an undrafted position. I understand passing on him, but you had 3 6ths and a huge OL need. You take Smith over a LS. Simple as that. We made a mistake and KC didn't.

Thank you, I didn’t have the energy to respond myself. What irritates me more then anything is Rhule was so confident with Eflein, Erving and re-signing John Miller to a one year deal that he never considered drafting Smith. Man he was stoked about picking his man-crush Fletch. Fletch walked his happy ass up here, sucked in training camp and then got “injured” at a convenient time so Rhule didn’t have to cut him.

I’m with you and would have preferred that pick. My only point of contention is it likely was the medical staff that steered the staff away from picking Smith. Hard to fault them, if so. The coaches aren’t medical experts.

It’s a calculated risk. We either take Trey with his blood clot issues or pick Fletch and let him walk his happy ass up here. If Rhule had any clue how bad our line was he would’ve picked Trey. Hell, he probably would’ve picked Creed Humphrey over the invisible TMJ. Rhule thought our o-line was good to go and that’s why no one has any confidence in him.

And we just pay him 19 mil next year to do what? Who’s gonna trade for him? Even if we eat a chunk of his salary? Dude is a bum. Ride him to one of the top QBs next year and move on

If Rhule is brought back next year he knows he has to win now. There’s no way he’s hitching his star to Darnold’s wagon again. We’re about to witness every short sighted bad decision imaginable. We need to can this fool now before it gets really ugly.
