They've reportedly told Jonathan Gannon he's out of the race.

Apparently down to Flores or McCown.

With all drama Houston has, are they really going to hire Flores?  Also that kinda kills part of case if hired, which could be a massive payday if he wins.  Dude could do whatever he wants and be set for life.  It's McCown job if he wants it.

They probably sign Flores and then he gets Watson to come back to play for Houston lol

Hmmm, they can’t make their mind up lol.

Wow, Lovie Smith couldn't even rebuild the Illinois football program.  This is the dude they expect to bring the Texan's organization back from the ashes?  Lovie is a very solid DC, but has shown he's not HC material.

I dunno about that. He had a winning record as a HC for the bears. He got fired after a 10-6 season. Coach of the year, super bowl appearance. Winning record 5 out of 9 seasons in a very tough nfc north division at the time. It’s actually kind of odd he hasn’t gotten another shot. Unless he just doesn’t want to be a HC anymore.

Lovie is basically John Fox or Ron Rivera.

There aren’t 32 better options than those guys.   They just have ceilings as HC.   You hire them knowing they will never grow into the best HC in the NFL.   You might win 7 or you might win 12 any given year.  It’s going to be a back and forth

Well I'd say in this case the "building" is up to Caserio. Smith just has to coach.

    • Svechnikov and I'm voting cause I'm pissed.
    • He had games where he was a top 10 QB that week, vs Saints, Falcons, Eagles, Chiefs, Bucs.  Amazing performances that I think show what he can do consistently.  He must play with confidence to overcome physical limitations where someone like Cam can struggle all game and then win the game at the end by running someone over. Bryce won’t be that and I am fine with it, it’s time for us to move on to the new era. It’s been 5 long years.
    • We both know there's more that goes into batted passes than just the height of the QB. Most people here have readily acknowledged this and there were numerous discussions about it before we drafted Young. But if you are presenting a POV that Bryce's height hasn't tied to issues with his footwork then there's nothing anyone is going to be able to say to sway you and you know this. Even beyond the footwork I recall a redzone play where Bryce couldn't see around his right tackle at all where a receiver was waiting practically alone in the end zone for a touchdown. There are real world circumstances that are going to show up over the course of the upcoming season and it's up to Bryce and Dave Canales to make adjustments and do anything they can to mitigate negative instances and yes that begins with Bryce's footwork again. Thanks for your time. Have a nice weekend.
