Sam Howell

He (Pickett) is probably the best QB prospect right now if you want someone to come in and play right away. He gets through his progressions, makes pretty good decisions, and has decent wheels. He made some good throws, though his arm talent may not great. He reminds me of Mac Jones TBH.

Yeah if only the Bengals, Chargers, Cardinals listened to this… I’m also curious to who the best QB was in the ACC?

They all have significantly better Olines than we do. We literally give up instant pressure inside - when Romo, a guy who has absolutely no skin in this game, is saying "it's not the QB's fault", people should listen.

Big Dick Van Dyke.

I think this is the best game to evaluate Pickett.  It's his best season vs the best defense he played that year.   Now, this wasn't the week 1 Clemson D that GA saw as they had lost guys by this time but still a good test given the talent and coordinator.

Thought this was about Howell. Lol

Counted 8 high performing plays by Pickett all game. Keep seeing the same thing from him, and I don't want Pickett. I want Addison and Bartholomew. Pickett rides Addison a lot for his production. Also, he needs capable pass catching TEs to not go into panic mode. Reminds me of Newton with his passing and Darnold with his pocket presence. Then throw in those gloves on the NFL level. No thank you. His Miami game that followed this was even worse, and he was unimpressive against UNC. He is a project. Obvious why his stats made the leap in 2021 from what he did the previous 4 seasons.

K Pickett was consistently below average before this season.  Will be 24 before the draft.  He had a nice year but he has red flags for days IMO.  Mac Jones was way more accomplished against much better comp on a much bigger stage.  Not comparable IMO.  The Joe Burrow comp is so out there I just can’t wrap my head around it.  Bust written all over Pickett

He's also about 36.

He has a chance to be good…no doubt.  Little early to say he is better than Howell IMO but he has talent.  What he did with his supporting cast was really impressive though.  Miami is definitely pointed up.

Interesting. Where do you think VanDyke will transfer to after this season?

You are right I think mostly.

I think they have similar strengths and weaknesses. Jones had quality players and coaches around him at Bama even though he played at higher level. Jones made good decisions and had enough talent (just not the high ceiling of some others in his class). Pickett I think fits that mold this year.

Pickett is probably a better athlete but Jones has him everywhere else.  Jones being drafted to that situation also helped him a ton.  Just against Picketts full body of work but respect your opinion if you like him

I don't watch a lot of college football but if Howell was getting blown up behind a bad O-line at UNC, won't he just end up just like another QB named Sam we all know- getting crushed behind a terrible line and never having the opportunity to show what he could do with even a modicum of protection?

If we plug Howell into this offense as is he will get destroyed and will fail miserably.  Tom Brady would fail with our OL.

    • It would be nice to see #9 prove people like this laughably wrong. That's why many Panthers fans myself included were wanting to see how much time he'd dedicated to his craft following the conclusion of the season but then he showed up and let everyone know he pretty much crawled under a rock. Somehow the Panthers social team though this was rather amusing after what we'd sacrificed for the rights to draft him It's interesting that we go from Levis being least desirable of the class and a complete and total meathead that would alienate himself from his teammates to being talked up as possibly emerging as one of the better young QB's entering the 2024 season. Man what a whirlwind the last 12 months have been for the people who fully bought the hype machine in the lead up to the 2023 NFL draft and did victory laps like they had their very own sports almanac from BTTF. Life comes at you fast folks.
    • You either need to do waaay more drugs or waaay less drugs, your current intake is not right. Sorry I can not advise on which path to take.
    • He's routinely a great watch.  Good content.  I like his optimism on Chubba in our scheme, allows us to bring in Brooks at an optimal pace relative to his recovery (who we got obviously to be our new guy, could become the focal point of this offense) The two news OGs will have no issue playing our offense coming from familiar schemes, one in Hunt being league top, is going to be huge for our running game more than anything.  I also liked him maintaining some optimism with Icky.   Seeing his page and commentary on our defense really puts in perspective how much turnover we have.  It should feel like a much different team (hopefully better) especially that front-7.  Jewell is going to be better than people expect, he was super unheralded for Denver and is just a smart closer who played against the Chiefs routinely well.
