2022 Charlotte FC Game Thread

Missed the game today but my word, Karol is a damn superstar.

Charlotte is on their way up, now 8th in the table.

Second game attending and first time in the supporters section, such an amazing environment.  Now let’s get payback against Atlanta next week!

Great game and atmosphere. Two wins in a row at home.  Unexpected from an expansion team. Now to win one on the road.

Next weekend is a true test of where we are…

On the road at Philadelphia against a team who for my money has been the best MLS team over the past two years.

Getting a result from this game would go a long way in proving that we belong.

If we can keep Swiderski, Bender, and Kahlina here long term then we’ll have a foundation as good as any team…

Just a few stats…

Swiderski - tied for the league lead in goals (4), second in goals outside the 18 (2), first in shots on target (10)

Bender - tied for the league lead in assists (3)

Kahlina - second in accurate long balls (44), first in saves (21), second in clearances (6)

Helluva turnaround the last couple of weeks. More practices, more acclimation and more on-pitch time together has really worked wonders.

We have the Union tonight in a little pre entertainment to UNC/Duke.

While most of the table has a game or two in hand on us, a win takes us into a tie for second and a draw takes us into a tie for fifth.

It’s a lovely day to get a result.

Can’t quite tell what formation we are rolling with tonight, possibly a 5-4-1 diamond with Bender playing as a false 9, obliviously a lot of respect for the Union’s lethal attack.

Phew… that was some poo defending, now Charlotte has to chase early and I’m not sure you can do that in a 5-4-1.

That was the worst defending I’ve seen from Lindsey all year, unfortunately it came at a bad time.

Fuchs is the slowest dude on the field and passes back to the keeper every chance he gets
