I think offensively if CMC stays healthy we are going to score some points.   I would prefer to see Corral under center but as long as Darnold has CMC he'll play better.

I would like to see us sign a DE.  I am not sure whether Gross-Matos is going to final show his worth.  This is year 3 and he's got to step up.  If we can get some pressure I think we have the secondary to create some coverage sacks but we need that pressure.

If the defense shows up, which I believe it will.  We might surprise some folks.

IMO, this is the best roster we have had is a long while. Quality QB play would put us in the competitive bracket. I like Corall, and am hopeful he can rise to the occasion. Because if he can, we can be something.

We are still extremely susceptible to the run which means we are still extremely susceptible to play action which is what wins games in the NFL.  Until the run gets shored up and we get a possession WR we still arent exactly a QB away.

My only fear is that Rhule won't play Corall even after he learns the playbook, and can run some practices. Corall has to earn that start asap.

Yeah, that front 7 is a tad shaky right now. There is talent there, so there is a chance we can improve. Cuz if that front 7 plays well, that D could be really good.

@Davidson Deac IIshowed a stat recently that said we were 9th in yards per run. If we can stay right around there? We should be good to go.

No because we have an idiot for a HC. Now, replace him with a competent HC and I think it's a maybe. The question is how much our of our 2020-2022 draft talent pans out. 2020 and 2021 aren't looking stellar early. If those classes only end up with 1-2 real hits, this is a definite no. If we get a few more guys to pan out, this leans toward yes.

That is what is the key, how much of our recent(Rhule era) draft talent actually pans out.

In before, "this coaching staff can't win with any amount of talent"

EDIT: Damn, just missed it.

So do you not believe that Coaches can improve? Because our coach has added some highly resected coaches to his staff. This just might be a positive. Rhule has less day to day crap to deal with. Leaving him plenty of time to work his magic.

Saying a Coach is bad is not the end all. There is always hope for improvement.

Me? I would rather hope for improvement. It is better for the digestion.

front 7 on defense is pretty suspect.  And Reddick was a pretty big loss comparing last year to this year.

we also only have 1 reliable WR/TE in the pass game and that is DJ.  So we have to add to that.

and to some extent, many just have defaulted us into now having a strong OL in 2022 just because we have added new bodies.   We have seen that before even in recent times.   Where you can't just check the box at as it existing and solved because we have new guys in town.

and obviously, to be competive does require good in game management, gameplanning and roster decisions.  And those presently are still things people hope will occur but to date haven't under Rhule.

So...because you failed to tell us how you voted, we are left to guess. And by this post? I'mma say it's a solid no for you?

    • Johnson is very smart IMO. He will get paid either way but avoiding a terrible spot can save your career too. He looks to be working the system and good for him. I always thought hiring interviews go both ways and have been disappointed watching people not realize this. He handled DC roughly but it was also funny because he did see them as what they are which is a new ownership group, even with Petters, he would be likely be destined for failure there while they figure out the normal learning curve of the NFL.  It's not lying it's just 'your great but I can't say what your not because that is taboo'. Sometimes lies are expected if the truth isn't what they want.  I agree generally. Ron was doing great work as a DC where he put in 6 years as DC at 2 teams vs Canales 1 year as OC before becoming a HC. Ron is such a known quantity by now, he earned his 2nd shot as a HC and it went as expected given his proclivities. Offense is just safer in this NFL vs Defense so any one that can score will get a look. Ryans is a beast but how do you think he fairs without Slowick? Which HCs were in the SB? Offensive guys. It's a thing and makes laughing about TB, Atlanta and NO all having beatable defensive coaches the Panthers still can't beat LOL. It's a dump. If your building a career the Panthers are a long shot. If you are taking a shot, getting paid and/or ready to grow from this failure then this is a great option. I think the jobs are extremely valuable on many levels but there is always a turd in the punchbowl with Tepper. Hurney, Rhule, Friterer, now Caldwell and maybe Morgan. Tepper always leaves some dookie around to contaminate the next batch...they literally help him fug up the next time. It's Tepper's MO, spend lots of money and lean on past failures into new failures. There has not been a truly fresh start under Tepper yet which explains why he keeps failing.
    • yeah lol never say it can't get any worse with David Tepper in charge
    • I would talk poo about their qb room but I'd rather have Darnold and JJ competing for our QB spot than giving BY free reign with no pressure
