I'm pleased about the deal and all along was good with the consideration of it...

...ditto if it had been Winning Jimmy G. 💥👊

You predicted the Browns wouldn't trade Mayfield and cited a no-name writer (probably about the only guy you could find who agreed) as if it bolstered your argument.

As for Garoppolo, the Panthers didn't want him. Heck, he might now end up in Cleveland.

There is no value at all if it doesnt factor into our long term plans.  We are not winning the super bowl this year and its a damn stretch with our schedule to think we will be in contention for a wildcard spot, so I just dont see the damn use of it at all.  There is no future with him.   Its another wasted season.

Brother you dont know what the future holds and the super bowl or pointless is pathetic too. In a era were starting QB are getting 40+ million, panthers may have found one thats on a one year try out for 4.85. Thats great if youre a panther fan, off-field stuff aside. panthers can tag and keep him or tag and trade him if he gos off as well.

Panthers have been sucking at QB moves, but this is a legit win. Sorry your Baker hatred will not let you see the bright side of this.

basically whats the point for a 1 year rental and they break it down long term and short term

I'm not a real big fan of one year rentals, but for a conditional fourth / fifth rounder two years from now, throwing in that his old team pays the majority of his salary?

That's not a bad deal at all.

Dang Scot has a memory, thats how I seen it too. Sizzle just like you stating over and over Tepper would not fire Marty Herniay and did. You thought more than few times Baker would remain a brown and even play...... FYI Bro thats not happening.

its not a bad deal but it doesnt do poo for the long term, what exactly does it accomplish for one year?

Listen to the podcast they break it down from all sides, pro/con long term short term

Wasn't that long ago, really...

What made it stick out in my mind though was that he found some no-name reporter and tried to build them up as if they were a better source than established writers like Mary Kay Cabot and Tony Grossi 😆

I don't think it was done for the long term.

The guy who currently holds the ultimate sign off power isn't necessarily assured that he has a long-term.

So are there new rules this season that prevent the panthers form re-signing Baker long-term after the season? They also have his rights via tagging as well. The one year is a blessing given it could go off rails too. Perfect type of risk for the panthers to take. The point of it all is too improve team talent and with this trade the QB room has improved.

    • Its quite literally insanity and its quite literally textbook panthering.  Literally 2 weeks before the season they pull this poo.  It absolutely helps no one but Moton.   fug morgan fug tepper and fug tillis.  This is a horrendous move no matter how you sell it.  But but but culture, but but but it sets a precedent, but but but he deserves it, but but but it frees up cap space.   It was a stupid fuging move.
    • fuging Christ dude this isnt hard.  Like at all.  I get you simping for this poo team is your thing but sometimes you have to look at reality.   Even removing his bum knee from the equation, none of this made sense.  He is 31.  He has been paid handsomely for his service here.  He was currently under contract for this season.  Why in the holy fug did anything have to be done 2 weeks before the season started.   The people for this move, in this thread are saying A) He deserved it (this is the nfl it doesnt work like that  B) It frees up cap space (then why in the fug didnt we do this in Feb or C) You logic (We are getting a deal at 53 million guaranteed for the next 3 years.   You realize with this deal we cannot cut or trade his ass for 3 years.  You understand this right?   So in my opinion we should have let this ride into the offseason and go from there, what he is going to threaten to walk, big fuging deal he would be 32 on a chronically bad knee, what other moronic franchise is going to give him 40 million up front?  It wasnt going to happen.   And you are acting like its impossible to replace a 32 year old RT with a bum knee.  Just go and draft someone, move Icky to RT.  There are tons of options instead of extending this dude 2 weeks before the fuging season.  The truth is Morgan and the shitheads in the FO fell for this dudes crying act and got all sentimental and shelled out another ext.  We are a poverty ass franchise that doesnt act professionally
    • Amazing what the prospect of being traded to Carolina will do for contract negotiations.
