Panthers “Dark Horse Playoff Contenders”

That stretch won't be as hard as imagined. Every year people make the same mistake of thinking last year's good teams will still be good. Not all of them will be. I expect TB, SF, Arizona and LA won't be as good as you think they'll be. I honestly expect TB to crash and burn this season and Arizona has a prima donna problem and SF has a QB problem most likely. LA is good but Stafford has been abused most of his career. If they lose him they are not the same team.

I think the Huddle is the most realistic it's ever been since Rhule took over as HC. In the past I would read predictions that were outrageous, but now fans are pretty much on target with W/L predictions. Maybe someone might be interested in digging up the W/L predictions for last season, but I remember a lot of 5 or 6 wins predictions. We're getting very accurate.

So I'll chime in with my prediction for the season. I am expecting 7 or 8 wins if CMC stays healthy. If he is injured, then we're around 6 wins depending on how many games he misses.

If CMC stays healthy all season I'm going with 10-11 wins this season. When we have him, we have won. Especially under Rhule. That's why are early season record is so much better than our late season one. Plus our O-line is clearly better already. I expect us to be able to run the ball and that will open things up. With CMC all season? It's playoffs baby.

My calculations determine 19 "IFs" must go the panthers way in order to make the playoffs..

I only made it up to 4 before I determined the odds were less than 0 if you round it to 4 decimal places. Thank you for verifying my rough estimate by carrying it out to 12.

    • No, he has a long way to go to be that--I think he is probably referring to his ceiling--I think Legette has more room to grow from where he is that those more polished WRs.  When you look at his potential, it presents an argument that is not so one sided.  Of those three, only Odunze had a higher RAS score 9.92.  XL had a 9.90.  Malik Nabors had a 9.67.  Harrison Jr.  did not have one.  I am not sure that Legette has not overcome more obstacles to be where he is, and if you consider his adversity, his story might be more incredible, even though he is only a second tier rookie right nowm with Mitchell, Thomas, Pearsall, and maybe McConkey.  I am going from memory-but you have to think of things as a kid-when he was 16, his mother died of breast cancer.  When he entered S Carolina, his father died.  They had some issues and QB problems and the OL was terrible in Columbia---the others you mentioned?  None of that family drama, and they played at Washington, Ohio State, and LSU.  Huge difference.  I am proud of him as a man--when all his chips were on the table--when he had no more chances, he broke through and became a first round draft pick.  A school with a losing record, mediocre QB, and bad OL.  Mentally, he was struggling through the losses of both parents.  Amazing story.  Is he as good as those three who played at top universities?  Not yet.
