What's the deadline for final 53?

Cuts will start today even though 4pm tomorrow is the deadline.  A few reports from other teams started leaking out last night.  Most teams won't announce all their cuts at once; likely in 2-3 waves starting today.  I expect to start seeing some news shortly.

Any surprise cuts or surprise 53 man makes?  Not really a surprise, but I think Shi Smith beats out Andre Roberts--who we signed to the the PR for those duties.  Burris is on the bubble..it wouldn't shock me to see one of the younger safeties take his spot.  Walker makes the 53 until Sam is healthy, I'm pretty sure.  Jordan gets the axe.  Also I'm curious to see who gets TE3.  I think it would have been Ricci, but he's hurt.  I'm not sold on either Thompson or Sullivan...utter JAGS.

And that gives him 2 weeks to get used to his holder, timing with snap, etc.

I noticed 2 things about Zane in preseason.

1.  He seemed to be on the left upright a lot, as if he was pulling the ball.  Was his brain subconsciously trying to protect the injury when it was hardly noticeable?

2. The injury followed a rain delay.  Was he loosened up properly?

I am on a mission to find out the truth.  I need answers!  I can handle the truth!

It was a freak injury.

"With unlimited players who could return last season, teams can only designate eight players to return from IR, including any player returning from the practice squad/injured list. Another tweak comes in how long a player must be on the Reserve/Injured List as they must miss four games when in 2021 the time was only three games."

When does the team deem a player as eligible to return and long term IR? At time of placement on the IR or whenever they want?

From the same article I linked earlier:

"Just to clarify, one item which was made permanent with the NFL several years ago was teams no longer have to designate a player to return from the Reserve/Injured List at the time they go on the list. Teams do not have to say which players are returning until they begin their 21-day window.

    • If the losses were him not stepping up in key situations then it'd be a disappointment.
    • I'm well versed in the minutiea of the Canes radio broadcast system... lol I've been back in WNC for about 15 years now. And, until very recently, we would only get Predators games on the RSNs out here. So, radio was the only option for me to keep up with the team. These were the dark years, too. Maybe, once a year, you'd get to see us get smashed on national TV by some original 6 powerhouse. If you were really lucky, Jeff Skinner would bless you with one of his absolutely stunning pirouette passes to nowhere, before Wardo toppled over off his head, giving up a goal on his 70th shot faced that night for an inspiring 1-0 loss. But, that story sounds a whole lot cooler when Chuck Kaiton is telling it to you in real-time with the raspy drawl of a calving heifer! Before TuneIn or the Canes apps even existed, I used to have to find the one spot out in the back yard, where the hills and trees parted just right, that I could pickup 730(?)AM The Buzz all the way out in Catawba county. I'd sit in the shadow of the mighty Appalachians, staring out at the stars and getting high with stray cats, while being serenaded by the worst hockey you've never seen played in your life. That all, finally, started to change around the time TD bought the team. Part of that is due to the new NHL TV contracts and the constant reorganization of the RSNs themselves. Part, was me breaking up with that feral cat and moving to LKN to escape all the painful memories. The march of progress, and all that... I will say though, as much as I've criticized Dundon and as much as I loathe the existence of billionaires on principle, he has done an exceptional job of improving the fan experience, on the whole. Working with the league to expand the coverage map and bringing in outdoor games and all-star weeks has been huge. But, improving the quality on the ice (and of the ice) for all levels of hockey across the state has been even bigger! I forgot where I was going with all this, but... I'll still never forgive him for retiring Chuck K, though! HEY, HEY, WHADDYA SAY!!!!
