Lafell was.....fine.

Hardy had one flash in the pan season, assaulted a woman and threw her on his gun bed, sat for a year, paid her off, went to dallas and did nothing, and now spends his time rabbit punching toe tags in mma matches

hardy is nothing to hang a hat on

So an 11 sack season prior was just flash in the pan? He had two good seasons and was ascending prior.... Lafell was azz.

2001 is the best hands down...

Morgan

Jenkins

Smith

Just to add

Wienkie was decent backup value and hung around after the rookie deal

Cooper was legally insane and a demon on ST. All you can ask form a 5th is decent STer and he was much better.

Imagine if we'd taken Blaine Gabbert like many wanted in 2011. That could've gone down as the worst draft class in the history of sports, period. Landing Cam was MASSIVE but the rest of the draft class was unbelievably bad.

It would have been in the top 50 no questions.....The kicker about it is Mcclain is STILL around to this day, he played 92 games only 12 came via blue and black.......Him and Nixon feel similar too..... But 2011 was also the draft in which the FIRST pick in 2nd round was the Edwards trade. fuging Armanti "man WRs suuure do run a LOT" Edwards for the 33rd overall pick......kill me now...

Cam first saved that draft class, then the panthers for 8 years.

Weinkie was set up to fail.  He was a solid backup in value, but thrust into a starter's role.  Can't expect a 4th rounder to be the face of a franchise.

Dont know if fitzs view on hardy is cloudy, its hard to overlook tossing a woman on bed of guns after smackin her around....cannt blame. But the 6th best comment is crazy talk, guy was peppers-prime-lite.

Lafell was not ass, he was an average #2 WR with staying power. Played in 125 games, 31 TDs, and 5k yards when it was allll run focus. Went to the Pats and had his best year...

Worst - 09, 16, 11

09 was a shitshow of the highest proportions. We traded away the future first then traded another future first for Brown. The only saving grace was Captain Munnerlyn in the 7th

16 - The only saving grace is Bradberry, and he's really good. The rest are just bad. Worley and Butler seem to stick around NFL Rosters each year but neither were worthy of where they were drafted.

If Cam wasn't in that 11 draft, it would hands down be the worst and he is the only saving grace. The fact we had the first pick in every round by default and produced such garbage should not be overlooked.

Best - 01, 17, 07

In 01 our first three picks were Morgan, Jenkins, and Smitty respectively. Can't really beat that in terms of talent.

07 we got Beason, Kalil and Johnson all in one year, which was another great one.

Say what you want about Gettleman, but 17 was his magnum opus where 3/7 are pro bowl caliber players (CMC, Moton, Butker) and all but 1 is still on an NFL roster and contributing 5+ years after the fact.

I have said some nasty things about Gettleman so, in fairness, I need to acknowledge that you are correct about him having one of our best drafts.

It's quite painful to me to have to accept that two of our best drafts were by Seifert and Gettleman.

    • The good news is that we are pretty uniquely well established to address all of our needs this season. We have $14m real cap space, and something like $40m in trade deadline cap space. Not sure exactly how that works out. But, we have the room to absorb any bad contracts. With recent rule changes regarding retention, that went into effect this season, we now have a huge advantage in the trade market.  On top of that, while we do have obvious needs, we also have a glut of talent in certain areas that we struggle to find ice time for. We are over-stocked on scrappy talented lil-guys, strong defensively sound 3rd liners and shutdown left shot dmen. Whether it's a package or separate deals, idk. But, one of each from Stank/Blake/Nads, Erob/Carrier/KK/Jank, and Walker/Nystrom; throw in some 1st round picks (and frankly any other prospects they want) and we should be able to come out with a 1b to pair with Bussi and either a 2c with size or a 2c and size.   TL/DR We got the money, you got the stuff?
    • I don’t  think 6’4 was ever considered small or undersized. Baby hands tho, yes that was his thing That’s an interesting idea, like an optical illusion? Sounds like you have personal experience with this!
    • in the 25' draft the Carolina Panthers had hired Brandt Tillis someone who actually understood how to build a successful team & build through the draft .  this team was yes mismanaged for years prior to Brandt Tillis joining the team in 25' & rarely done anything right in the draft outside occaionaly getting lucky on an UDFA such as Jalen Coker who's dad coincidentally happened to be a huge Carolina Panthers fan, hint hint  ...just saying
