What would convince you that Wilks should be the guy?

For the record, I would like to see us persue Steichen next season, but I think it's always interesting that most interim coaches don't get an opportunity. Not necessarily because they perform badly, but usually the team is in a terrible situation or there a very limited sample to see change.

Obviously, the Raiders coach last year is an outlier here. He lead that team to a huge turnaround, and still didn't get the job.

With no QB, a half baked staff, what would it take to put you in Wilks' corner?

He doesn't look like Ron lite and has some competency in putting together an offense that is basic but also a lot more effective than the pooshow we have seen all year. I expect a lot more running and rotation of non-Rhule guys.

I am guessing the offense remains really bad and he runs too many soft zones in the D. I would be happy to be wrong tho.

He has done 0 to win me over, besides being tied to the nostalgia of the team's better years...

This move was strictly made to save the locker room. Another year of Rhule/Snow and Tepp faced possibly losing every FA we have  and losing the interest of any possible FA targets. Unless Wilks gets us to the playoffs by a miracle, he'll be replaced.

Fix the scheme holes on defense and steer McAdoo into producing better (and then dump him as soon as the season is over). Get the team playing hard again and looking like they’re having fun and improving. The players have looked defeated since last year, it’s been obvious by their body language and faces.

I don’t foresee Wilks turning the team around like that, I don’t think he’s going to be the guy. But if he can pull off a miracle and have this team looking like a well run team then he deserves the shot.

    • Watching games this year again and Bryce missed a wide open XL many times and some of them were in the endzone. I get the kid has mental lapses and hasn't broke out yet, but this is year three on a rookie deal! Cutting bait now is too early. If he hasn't gained anymore trust from his QB, posted any highlights, little production, or outright gets beat out then we can talk movement.
    • Samesies   I truly may just cash completely out of Panther football if we give him a long term deal that isnt necessary.  I have watched NFL for 50 years now and I can without a shadow of a doubt say you cannot win consistently with BY.  Way too many limitations to deal with.   I may come back around in 3 years when the inevitable happens and all parties are either cut and/or fired.  Giving him a deal before this season so you hopefully can get him cheaper in case he "blows up" or if you truly believe that he will has to be the most moronic decision a gm can make when the evidence is laid before you with different players
    • This is the one! I was at that game and all KB had to do was lay down on the corner after the pick or make an obvious tag while he was down. He had already ran a lazy route. Then if Cam would've just walked to the sideline like most elite QBs instead of trying to make the tackle.  A lot of people bring up the TJ Watt hit, but he just reaggravated a bunch of scar tissue from that play. And every Cam hater said that the running did him in and it was a dive tackle attempt on an interception that initially began the shoulder deterioration. He still went to New England later and would've got them in the playoffs had their A team not sat out the covid year. We quit on him too early. But hey how good was Teddy? Am I right?
