That would take one crazy draft right there. More likely it will take 3 years to fix this mess.

So if we try and court a HC without a shot at a highly rated QB in the draft or a shot at a franchise QB through free agency/trade, it's gonna be a tough sell.

If we had an answer at QB already, it becomes a much easier question but it isn't terribly often that jobs come open with franchise QB's present on those teams.

For us, we have Matt Corral under contract and a bunch of journeyman or bust FA QB's assembled. That isn't going to attract many candidates by itself.

People are overthinking it.

NFL head coach is one of the most exclusive jobs in the entire world (only 32), any given year there might only be 6-10 openings.  How many offensive coordinators are there? how many defensive? how many unemployed former coaches? 

 Will a lack of an established QB hurts us? In a few small cases, someone like Sean Payton probably would want to go a team with a better QB.  Maybe the hottest coaching candidate this offseason picks a better situation, but overall, there will be no shortage.

Most HC jobs are filled to teams without a good QB.  If the team had a good QB they wouldn't be so bad and there is a chance the HC wouldn't have got fired to start with.

If we don't pick a good coach, it won't be because none will be willing, it will be because we picked the wrong one.

That's really more like 13.5 after draft picks sign. But yeah we have some wiggle room.

Was Daniel Jones a top ten QB before Daboll got there? Saquan’s much better all of the sudden too. A lot of the key players are the same ones that did squat before. Just saying the right coach can turn us around quickly too

If you have paid attention to our previous coaching searches, you will notice that we were flatly turned down for interviews by some HC and OC candidates. 

Not every prospective coach wants any job out there. That happens every hiring cycle.

I truly am.  We have some good young players.  FA might give us high level veterans.  However, we don't have an excess of cap so it will be interesting.  Hopefully we can be compettitive enough for the next 2 seasons to make a big difference in season 3.  If rule was still here we wouldn't be jack dam..it.

Tony Elliott turned us down in 2019, although that was likely due to the Rooney Rule. Pep Hamilton turned us down this past offseason because he expected to have better opportunities available.

I believe Leftwich turned down a HC opportunity this past offseason(Jags maybe? as well. 

It's not uncommon. Remember McDaniels turning down multiple opportunities?

      Except it takes those QB's a few years to develop because they needed to learn the mental side of the game and have it catch up to their physical attributes. Bryce was supposed to be a QB savant who already had a fully developed mental side of the game and that was going to make up for his lack of physical ability.  And his lack of NFL level QB physical traits has been clear as day to anyone who has watched him the last 3 years, mainly, he just doesn't have an NFL arm, he can't zip the ball into tight spaces or throw on a line down the field like is needed at this level.

      Don’t recall seeing many of his interviews but what strikes me is that he engages and goes in depth. Even with the cliche answers as referenced by OP come across somewhat thoughtful.  Very likable personality despite being someone who can crush an average person like I can crush a paper cup. I knew Motons mother had a career at MSU but was looking on the google and found that Mushin Muhammad personally knew Motons grandfather.   His late grandfather was a professor at MSU.   Cool guy.  Interesting family and small world.

      I think people aren’t patient enough with Young. It can take a few years for a QB to develop. Look at Darnold, Baker and most recently Daniel Jones.   he hasn’t been able to put up big passing numbers either cause of how much we run the ball. You can tell our coaching staff still hasn’t took the training wheels off Bryce and let him go all out. We’ve had some pretty bad receivers as well. We finally got a true number one last year and look how much Bryce improved. Still we didn’t really have any depth behind TMac. Coker was hurt for a lot of the year and XL was our #2. How many big plays or TDs has XL dropped? I think this year can be the year we see Bryce able to hit his stride. If not then we can start looking for another qb but I just ask people to be patient.
