While this might be true.. I'd be terrified to take a chance on him in the first.  Especially if I was a GM with my job depending on it.

This is what you pay the scouts for. Is he a good kid? Does he work hard? Does he have elite traits? If yes to all the above you can work with that. But you need to understand that you need to develop an offense that caters to their strengths until they grow to the point they can run anything you want.

We have pass catching talent here and our offensive line is no longer bottom tier. Any QB we draft has a chance at success because of the talent around him. They will need to work for it.

He's worth a late 2nd early third.

You guys talk about odds with Matt Corral well the odds of someone repeating what Allen did are pretty long too.

I don't think he has anyone decent left on his schedule does he? So if they are all scrubs it's going to make him look better.

oh good, it’ll be nice to have another potential QB pick to hope for if the panthers end up picking #8 again

To me it all depends on what type of offense we are going to plug him into. Do you want to play to his strengths and get him on the go and cut the reads required on a play to just half and then he has the option to run? He can play right away.

You want to take this dynamic athlete and then force him to sit in the pocket every play and make four reads while figuring out the speed in the NFL? I’d prefer he sit for a bit. But a lot of that is going to be based on how he looks in camp.

Im personally a fan of throwing rookies out there and let them take their lumps.

@ForJimmy you are pooing the idea of getting Roger Staubach reincarnated?

You like a dual threat QB well using your definition he's the greatest Dual Threat there is.

But I guess Rings and Gold Jackets are disqualifiers for you.

I prefer to look at QBs who have played this past I don't know half a century???  What players did in the 60s doesn't reflect today's NFL.  Different rules, different types of athletes.  We are talking about a Josh Allen style QB and you bring up some guy from the 1960s as the QB you want....

Eagles OC could run a similar offense that run for Hurts.

I was initially really against AR but after watching him and knowing we are getting an offensive guy I think it would be fun again to get a supreme talent and watch him grow.   The kid has talent for days and I think he will be available from picks 5ish-8

The thing about Corral playing with all the rag tag bunch was he looked like he fitted in. Normally good players stand out around scrubs not our Matty boy. And for the love of god stop comparing him outlier QBs like it’s the norm and not the exception

This isn't basketball. Scrubs not blocking and scrubs not catching isn't under Corrals control. I don't see where your premise can be applied. Is he supposed to be a wonder pill of some sort? Throw the ball and catch it?

C'mon man. The mantra is getting worn.

    • To kick this up, The Athletic has a really comprehensive piece out where pretty much all QB questions are addressed. It is worth seeing.  https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7083539/2026/03/04/starting-quarterback-projections-free-agency-draft/?source=user_shared_article I’m putting something specific here but it should have a thread or something. It is an extensive exercise.  This is a dense write up with a lot of column inches used, about the Jets and Murray and Reich, all this stuff.. then it goes to backup QB and there is Dalton.  I am pasting that part: As for Dalton, Reich is installing the offense he was trying to run in Carolina in 2023 before he got fired, and Dalton was with the Panthers then; he’s an ideal option as a veteran backup to replace Taylor. Reich said this about Dalton in 2023: “The way he's throwing the football, the way he works through progressions, the way he handles the operation. … Since day one (when) he walked in the door, I'm like, 'This guy is starter-worthy.' You guys know I've said that all along. He's, in my opinion, one of the best 32 quarterbacks in the world.” ——— That’s true love lol. I never heard any of this. Pretty crazy I think, considering how the year went.   Anyway the dream is not dead. .
    • The Seahawks traded for wide receiver/returner Rashid Shaheed at the trade deadline. He proved to be a key acquisition. Shaheed returned a punt and a kickoff for touchdowns in the regular season and had a 95-yard kickoff return in the postseason. Shaheed, though, is scheduled for free agency. So, the 12 games he played, including the postseason, might be the extent of his time in Seattle. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Shaheed and the Seahawks are not close to an extension, and the expectation is that the two-time Pro Bowler will hit free agency. Shaheed has 153 receptions for 2,243 yards and 12 touchdowns in his four-year career to go along with three punt return touchdowns and a kickoff return touchdown. He ranks 13th on PFT’s top-100 free agents. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/report-rashid-shaheed-appears-headed-to-free-agency
