How good is Brian Burns 2022 campaign?

What argument have u made? you have made a completely dumb argument about letting a top 10 pass rusher walk for a complimentary 3 RD pick!  we were offered 2 first and a second and your saying it would be better to let him go for a borderline 4th rounder...i mean my god..

I didn’t. You made it. I just brought it infto the light. You want to pay 25-28M to a guy who”isn’t Garrett(makes 25M/year) but is Reddick(15M).” Your words. Can’t be both.

I was given a specific scenario. And someone asked if I would give Burns 28M/yr. As I’ve always stated I wouldn’t. So anything at that point is a bonus. And this situation won’t come to that. No one said it was better than the Panthers turning down 3 high quality picks for the right to overpay a situational DE by about 10M. That offer will never come again.

Is it the football you don’t understand or the basic math.

I really don't understand the hate he gets at times.  He's an elite pass rusher. There's a reason why we fielded the offers we did for him. The dude is a very valuable roster piece.

With that said, we're gonna continue to suck until we fix our coaching and quarterbacking problems.

McCaffrey got a lot of hate too, at times, and look at him now. It's the Panthers way.

22 minutes in

al Wallace clearly detailing the play of Brian burns

refreshing to hear.

It's exactly what I've said for years.

Mike Rucker/  Charles Johnson type player.

Not a game changer.

Not a drive stopper.

It's like I'm doing the segment.

Cmac hate was unwarranted as the guy absolutely showed up every game. He was the best in the league at his position.

Burns isn't even close to that production or status.

No crappy team as the rams is going to give a high second and two firsts.  That ship has sailed.

I agree, but the team viewed this trade (as teams do - not saying it is how fans should) as two seconds and a third. That is a realistic target to hit or exceed I think.

If that is the case then fitt is a bigger moron then I initially thought.  Personally I think it’s as simple as the front office extremely overvaluing his play/talent.   Which makes no sense considering they just traded cmac for way less.

Yeah but if a QB is on the table then it's worth a look. That deal is dead and will make any other deal look not as good but 2 first isn't bad either. He isn't a Peppers or Miller. He is a good player who could be overpaid and that never ends well...just ask CMC.

I get taking the position that those picks are going to be basically two seconds and a third when you are negotiating the trade, but in reality most people knew the Rams' goose was cooked after this year.  When this year started to go south, the goose was done early and those picks became what they were: a lot more top 10 potential in each round rather than bottom 10.

I never figured out if the people on this board who thought those were going to be pick 24 or below were confusing the teams or hitting the bottle.  The Rams went all in to win a Superb Owl in the short term and the entire world knew it was going to cost them when that window closed.

That has not changed and is playing out as we speak.

I think this is just the way front offices value draft picks - I think it's a mix of over-valuing him and viewing the draft picks differently than fans for a variety of reasons (unknown future draft position of the other org, unknown needs, unknown if the staff will even be there in 3 years...).  I also think there was more about CMC than what we know RE: why he was traded - I suspect he made it clear he'd like to be. Also given injury history, age, and position, Burns definitely is more valuable.

    • Sometimes its fun to read the threads/posts.  The panthers could literally hire a groundskeeper and we'd have a thread "improving the field for no other reason to prop up Bryce Young".  Apparently no move is ever done to actually make the team better.  All a conspiracy to just focus on Bryce Young. Or suddenly daydreaming and reminiscing about Sam Darnold when he was hated more than Bryce Young.  Its really fun to do a message board search about Darnold during that time period.   Or thinking there is just a tree that grows QB, and you can just easily go up and pluck one.
    • Yeah okay. We as an organization have been more patient with him than many. And there has been a small parade of guys drafted since he was, also to bad teams, that have passed him. Some have lapped him. As a fan I am out of patience but he gets this year it is out of my hands always has been. I just hope the bar is higher than it has been for him.    FWIW, XL dropped two passes last year. He did do some other bad stuff, just saying.
    • Except it takes those QB's a few years to develop because they needed to learn the mental side of the game and have it catch up to their physical attributes. Bryce was supposed to be a QB savant who already had a fully developed mental side of the game and that was going to make up for his lack of physical ability.  And his lack of NFL level QB physical traits has been clear as day to anyone who has watched him the last 3 years, mainly, he just doesn't have an NFL arm, he can't zip the ball into tight spaces or throw on a line down the field like is needed at this level.
