I get why Tepper wants Payton but his resume is worrying as you pointed out. I don't want to continue to harp on the contrast between Harbaugh and Payton:-) but in four years at San Francisco he won 3 conference championships and a 3pt loss in the Superbowl.

What?  Harbaugh did not win 3 conference championships.

Why does ripp think Harbaugh is going to change his mind at the last second and peace out on Michigan again?

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

If the Panthers were smart he would be hired here, where he wanted to coach.

I'm hoping beyond all hope that David Tepper will reverse course because he realizes that Payton isn't serious and would be too costly.

It's a cry for common sense from the senseless. Yes I agree. Until a coach is hired the man who wants the job needs to be seriously considered instead of obviously lesser coaches.

Yes. Until the fat lady sings.

Wait, wasn’t it reported last week Arizona didn’t want payton because he wanted control and now they are interviewing him?

Was reported that Payton might not want Arizona because they hired a GM without waiting on him.

Speculation now is that yhis is a move on his part trying to force Denver's hand.

Interesting, I’ve seen several places it’s down to who he wants between Denver and Carolina. Many experts think Carolina is the best destination (for all coaches)

From Person’s latest on The Athletic:

Even before the pause in the search, it seemed Tepper was determined to conduct a more thorough search than he did when hiring Rhule, one of only four candidates to interview after Ron Rivera was fired. To that end, Tepper and his search committee — which includes Nicole Tepper, Fitterer, assistant GM Dan Morgan and vice president of football administration Samir Suleiman — have indicated to at least one candidate they plan to interview a group of finalists.

But whether the Panthers conduct another round of interviews has not been determined yet, according to a source with knowledge of this situation.

Five people, only one without a football background (Mrs Tepper) and no Steven Drummond...

That works.

What is David  Tepper "football background"?  A huge pile of money to spend?

Being a lousy team owner.

You're correct, Tepper doesn't count. Still, three of five is way better than what we had last time (zero of three).

This is actually a good sign. He’s actually thinking this through and weighing all his option. No Drummond or Hurney is a big W too. I wonder which candidate they told they’d do a finalist group interview?

    • Yeah I think he's just talking continuity it's not really an endorsement. Also I would think CarolinaHuddle of all places would understand using "we" for the team you follow. I can't STAND when dorks do the "Oh so you play for them then? Hurr hurr"
    • Kon is a damn stud but it’s not any individual player’s team. All of the “big 3” are incredibly and equally important IMO. And LaMelo makes Kon way better (look at his shooting splits with LaMelo on the floor vs without. Also Moose and even Miles are important cogs. Honestly think we’re 1 piece away from being legit top contenders if the young guys continue to develop the next year or two. I trust this FO to be patient to find that piece within the next 2-3 years and not force anything. Plenty of time and even without adding anyone we have the pieces in place overall already to compete with any team.
    • We lost 2 very close and winnable games against top teams in the league while missing 3 critical players despite 2 of our top 3 players shooting unusually terribly. Still split the 4 games that Moose and Miles were suspended, winning the most important one vs the Hawks. This ain’t yo mama’s Hornets man. Hopefully Coby can go soon but even if not Moose and Miles are huge additions for our starting lineup and bench rotations. Schedule is pretty tough after these next 4 but I think we’ll take care of business the next 4 to get to .500 then finish slightly above .500 after that to get a 7 or 8 seed. Keep it rolling boys. Also Kon is having an insanely historic rookie season as a shooter. Like truly can’t believe my eyes watching this kid level of historic. Man what a fuging home run of a draft pick and exactly what this team needed to take that next step forward. He’s gonna shatter the rookie 3 point and franchise 3 point records. Has a real chance to be the 2nd best 3 point shooter ever or dare I say even get to Curry’s level (as a pure shooter, Curry obviously has way more to his game that has made him a GOAT).
