What if the canes don’t make a move and are afraid to fug up the chemistry. When patches came in, yes he scored 3 goals but we looked off. Aho has turned into an absolute machine lately. Something to think about.

We have 9 mil in cap space once patches hits LTIR. No way we don’t make a move.

I think the Canes are zeroing in on Toews.  He can play 2C and be more of a scoring threat than KK.  He also plays a very good 2 way game.

I also read where the Canes were talking to the Canucks about Horvat, but wanted to talk extension before making any kind of offer.  After seeing what the Canucks got from NJ and his extension I am glad we didn't go there.

Looks like Boeser is going to be on the move soon and while I’m not a big fan his because he’s overpaid by quite a bit and slow; I wouldn’t be totally shocked to see Carolina approach Vancouver and take on all of Boeser’s contract along with the first round pick that Vancouver just acquired for Horvat in exchange for a second round pick.

Hmmmmm..... not a move I see Waddell making, tbh. You're right, he's overpaid and doesn't bring any more potential offense to the 2C position.

I wouldn’t be shocked to see the Canes also look for someone who can play the wing in a top six role but is maybe a third line winger in a perfect world.

Patches was going to be 1RW and Jarvis was going to get bumped down to the fourth line but obviously the injury occurred.

With over $10M to spend, I think 2C is the most important position followed by 1RW, and then 3LD.

So all in all, I’d like to see the Canes look something like this:

Teravainen - Aho - Trade

Svechnikov - Trade - Necas

Martinook - Staal - Fast

Noesen - Kotkaniemi - Jarvis

Stepan - Stastny

Slavin - Burns

Skjei - Pesce

de Haan - Chatfield

Trade

Andersen

Raanta

I’m half expecting Coghlan to remain with the Canes so that might take us out of the market for a third pairing LHD but as far as our top six goes, I’m starting to get on board with a trade with St. Louis that could land us O’Reilly and Barbashev.

The Canes could lineup like:

Svechnikov - Aho - Teravainen

Barbashev - O’Reilly - Necas

Martinook - Staal - Fast

Noesen - Kotkaniemi - Jarvis

Just spitballing some ideas but I definitely think two additional pieces are needed.

    • this     I never cease to be amazed at the number of people who will run up their blood pressure to get to the grocery store 30 seconds faster or are racing to get to work like it won’t be there at 8:02.   The only thing I’ve ever done that I think added more years to my life besides quitting smoking, was to learn to go with the flow behind the wheel.
    • The term you're looking for is "malinger(ed)", and he didn't.  I'm not sure why Panthers fans act like jaded ex girlfriends.  The dude is clearly injury prone as his time in San Fransico also proves. It's not like he got to San Fran and stopped having problems.
    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
