Where's the best sub you ever had?

Very random thread while I'm traveling. I love those hole in the wall local sub shops. Usually family owned places feel like thats the real culture of a place.

 

What's the best one you ever had?

 

Went to a place called "Hoagies on Main" in a small town in Palmyra PA recently and Dalessandros in Philly was pretty good.

Lil Pizza My Heart in Yanceyville, which changed its name to Venice Italian during the pandemic but everybody still calls it lil Pizza My Heart, has a really really good Philly cheesesteak sandwich.

When I saw your comment I was like I know that place but I couldn't remember where it was.  So I run over to Google and it comes up off Battleground and I'm like no that's not what I was thinking about.

Went to their about us page and immediately recognized the green front of the old place on High Point road.

And they make their own salamis and most of their other sandwich meats. Excellent place!

I haven't lived in G'Boro since 1998 and I remember the place on High Point Road very well. We used to pick up tailgate food the night before.

Technically not a sub, but the best pastrami on rye I've ever had was in Charleston... and I can't remember where... was an old Jewish neighborhood deli downtown, with seating in the back.

Subs, Hoagies, Heros ... not sure if I can pick a favorite. There's a few here that are the bee's knees. You can usually tell by their shop's name, workers, and menu though if it's going to be great or suuuuck.
