I think this is more because Ryans played most of his career in Houston. It would be like Kuechly being a hot candidate and choosing us over Denver.

That's not to say that the Broncos current situation is a dumpster fire, but I don't think that's the case with Ryans.

Heard that his wife is from Houston.

A lot of the negative Nancy folks around here were pooing on Carolina when it came out that Steichen didn't interview well and when Ben Johnson went back to Detroit. This whole offseason league wide just showed how many outside factors play into coaching hires and that Carolina isn't the dumpster fire you think it is...Carolina interview a guy they liked and were able to land him. Seems kind of clear cut and simple.

I don’t ever remember a coaching hire (for all teams) taking this long. Am I wrong, or is this being drug put?

It's about a typical cycle.  A lot of teams wait until the SB is over before hiring a coach if there's one in it they really want. It a gamble however.

I mean look at Denver, they could end up with a great coach from one of the final 4 teams or they could end up with picking a leftover with not much left in the way of staff choices.

Even if they manage to get a HC from one of the final 4 teams they still may struggle to put together a completely talented staff due to getting a late start.

I hope Denver hires the assistant coach for the cowboys from The Little Giants movie.Ya know the guy who thinks the giants are running some exotic formation when they are just standing around before practice

    • I would say the extremes from both camps in these conversations have to do with the blurring of the fact Bryce is a first overall pick and the expectations for that draft slot fair or not far exceed just being a top 20-25 starter amongst your peers. Regardless. All logical Panthers fans want him to be the answer.
    • The offseason is always when hope springs eternal. If you look past that, you can see a very bad roster with a lot more questions than definitive answers. Let's hope we get a lot of those right, because I think we are a lot closer to another impatient Tepper reset than we probably think.
    • These arguments are getting more and more disingenuous from both the pro and anti Bryce crowd. Bryce looked very good for stretches down the final 8 games. He finally showed glimpses of the guy that was projected as a top QB pick in the draft. Bryce also didn't look like a top 10 NFL QB.  I think we are so far removed from Prime Cam that we forget what an elite QB looks like. I could tell that when people were losing their minds and simping for Sam Darnold. This season needs to finally showcase Bryce as a franchise talent. If that doesn't happen, it's time to pivot. There are very few recent examples of QB's struggling or being a mixed bag through the first three seasons of starting and then suddenly becoming frachise caliber players.
