Jeremiah on Stroud. Don't overlook the compliment.

We already know that, but for his size, Bryce Young would be considered a phenom in the same vein as Peyton Manning, Andrew Luck and Football Fabio (you heard that nickname here first). We also have the uber athletic Anthony Richardson undoubtedly making NFL types across the league imagine and daydream about the possibilities of this fine piece of football eye candy that they've been presented with during the 2023 Combine. But that didn't mean that CJ Stroud didn't play his part to make the choice of who will be the first QB taken in this year's draft that much more difficult and/or nebulous. At least among fans there is no consensus. And if the sentiment of Daniel Jeremiah is shared among other analysts, GMs, coaches and owners, surely this will be an interesting top of the first round.

That compliment perhaps should not be overlooked or taken lightly. There is no question about Stroud's size, and he's not viewed as a multi year boom-or-bust type of project, he just throws the ball where it's supposed to be.

Now this is not to say that there are no questions about his game, but there will always be a premium on accurately delivering the football from the pocket.

The end of the day it’s the combine though. It’s a workout. It’s hype.

Hopefully our staff already has their QB’s figured out. We already knew Stroud can perform consistently in ideal scenarios. We already knew Richardson is a freak athlete.

The questions that remain about these QB’s don’t get answered at the combine, with the exception of the interviews if any of it actually matters.

    • Bain is a beast. I won't deny it. I mentioned it in another thread, but one of Mesidor's sacks was only because Bain shoved Mesidor's body at the quarterback like he was bowling with him. I have never seen anything like it. I hate that the Bucs drafted him. That being said, Bain has to be perfect in order to compete week to week. He plays a high contact position in a game where the most athletic and lengthy have the advantage. I think he will still be a force, but his impact can be minimalized with right blockers and schemes. Freeling has the opposite problem. He's a long limbed, athletic puppy. He has ALL of the advantages physically. He just needs to add strength to his body and improve his technique. In two seasons, Freeling could end up being regarded as one of the best LTs, if not THE best in the game. That's where his potential is. Both have the potential to boom, but Bain has the higher probability to bust. Just looking at it logically.
    • Again, KB did nothing wrong. The play was reversed after it was obvious that KB touched him when he was down. The video shows a ref 5 feet away who should have stopped the play. KB knew he already hit him while the CB was down. I watched that play and I saw he was down and knew we’d win the challenge. Just like when the ref told Cam he doesn’t get those calls yet, it did make me wonder if the ref swallowed the whistle since interception returns are a play where QBs can take a big hit. That was right around the “player safety” increase. Cam got hurt because the ref didn’t call the play dead even when it was ridiculously obvious the CB was touched down and the quick review and reversal showed that.
