Why Didn’t We Tank

Recommended Posts

ZERO chance I want to tank at seasons start, and again the only true rule about this ongoing debate is this- IF you are mathematically in the playoff hunt, win. PERIOD. Once you are eliminated, lose all you can. Wilks did right, until that iants game, that no one remembers or cares about*expect those "win at all cost" smooth brains.

Literally don't care. We did not give up much. Swapped first. Lost our lower second and still have our higher second. 1st next year and 2nd in 25. That is not losing a lot in the grand scheme of things. DJ Moore is overrated and we can get his replacement at 39. Most holes in the meantime can be filled through FA.

Yeah only a first and 2 2nd round picks. Not like those picks probably wouldn’t lead to starters.

I dont know if a proven top 20 WR on everyones list is not much.... he was the only player with above 1,200 all-purpose yards in the last three before this past year. Alllll with sus QB play and until this year sus OL play too.

I still digesting this, but getting DJ heartburn currently.....think I prefer trading a 2025 first instead of DJ....

We did tank.  We traded CMC after firing Rhule.  That’s a tanking attempt by a front office.

Players still play.  Coaches still coach.  They still care about their futures….which isn’t tied or viewed specifically to Carolina’s long term future

    • I wouldn't trade Svech for the best FA on the market, Marner included. Matter of fact, someone would be giving up a top line scorer and a couple draft picks for Svech.  Look at it this way, if Svech was a UFA in a couple days, what does his contract look like? That'll tell you everything you need to know.
    • I know it a real homer take but Im not sure Id slam dunk take that list over Smitty.  Smith just played a different way, he had an ability to just take over a game as a matter of will.  The catch against the giants where he caught it and took a helmet that broke his arm mid air, the games against DeAngelo Hall, 05 Bears playoffs, Ice Up Son, the revenge game against us. Those other WRs may have better stat books but love him or hate him, good guy or bad, Smith just played a different game and when he did look out.
    • Absolutely would have to be anther young scorer with either ELC time or a long term contract...    Could see maybe Kyrou or Robertson.... But I really just dont see him being traded you dont trade your leading post season scorer on a long term deal when he isn't even in his prime yet..   not to mention unless you get more than one of those guys at best it would be lateral with unknown team chemistry.
