This is why Bryce Young undoubtedly is QB1

Brees played at about 205 pounds. How is that not a similar build when it comes to "stockiness" and being able to hold up in the NFL? Corners weigh less, WRs weigh less and you could argue they take more of a pounding than a QB standing in the pocket does yet they are able to hold up in the NFL. Tbh your argument doesn't hold much weight no pun intended.

He played at 210 most of his career and never looked as small as Young.

It’s weird. Folks think there can only be one Josh Allen but swear this kid could easily be the next Drew Brees.

He did get hurt so I’m not sure where folks get he handled the SEC without injury.

I haven't seen anyone say Young never got injured, though I may have missed the posts.

But for everyone harping on Young's injury, should they not be worried about Stroud's from two years ago? It was the same type of injury after all.

Much less worries about a dude who can bulk up to 220-225 and seem like a good sized QB in the NFL vs the kid who put on water weight just to hit 200 and run no drills and then not reweigh at the pro day. I don’t know if Young’s frame can handle 215. Bama is world class weight rooms and facilities and he played at 185 most of his career.

Exactly. So you're saying that all of these idiots think that a guy who dominated in the SEC, against the best college competition, is going to have trouble in the NFL because he's small? Based on what data? That's some Matt Rhule analytics nonsense.

BTW, Drew Brees played at like 15-20 lbs heavier and he turned out all right.

15-20 pounds would be significant for Brian fuging Burns, and we are pretending it isn’t a big deal for a 5’10” guy?

You can like Young (I do too) while acknowledging that his frame is worrisome.

This board went on and on about how small Corral looked…but I be damned if he isn’t 4 inches taller and around 25-30 pounds heavier.

He measured in at 5'10". Bama had him listed at 6'. Bama had him listed at 195 and he weighed in at 204 but won't get back on a scale since.  I honestly think the dude is probably around 180.

I’m pretty confident 180-185 is his normal playing weight.

There's obviously been a certain level of shenanigans going on with his reported measurables beginning with Alabama and ongoing since. You can love his intangibles and processing abilities while acknowledging the inconsistencies with his weight are concerning when considering him with first overall. What's the precedent on this anyway? Who is the last QB that had these concerns and hesitancy to reveal their true playing weight that went on to have a great career? Very odd situation.

Kenny Pickett and his baby hands are the only thing that comes to mind.

This is a perfect take. He is a great QB, but the fans who aren’t concerned about his size are kidding themselves. Even Young knows it’s a concern which is why he won’t weigh in and throw on the sane day. He wants people to think he weighs more so there will be less of a concern.

This is what is considered wiry, fight me bruce lee GIF. And no, I'm not comparing Young to Lee. I'm just using the gif for the body type. Some experts believe being more compact like Lee was is better than being bigger muscled when it comes to our health and that includes taking hits. Nobody really knows how each person will do when it comes to hits. Yeah, punishment adds up over time. That said, the amount of punishment a person can take is different for each individual. I've heard pro wrestlers call it a bump card.

WRs don't get hit by 300lb Dlinemen. They occasionally get hit by 240lb LBs, but rarely ones that have a 10 yard running start.

CBs occasionally get hit by 300lb Olinemen, but they invariably see it coming and make a business decision. QBs don't have that luxury.

For the record they reckon Bruce Lee was 145lbs - and even then in his most famous fight scene irl he'd have got destroyed by Chuck Norris due to the size difference.

This makes sense for dudes not going up against other dudes who run as fast or faster than you and weigh 260+. At 190 ( and I think Young plays at 180-185 ) that’s a dude 70 pounds heavier than you being able to put all their weight on you when you aren’t ready for it…it’s serious cause for concern.

Young is a stud. He dominated in college. When he steps foot on the NFL fields though come week 1 he’s going to be the smallest framed player on the field every week unless folks have an old school kicker that weighs 170 lol.

    • He talks way too much about his time in Seattle and Russell Wilson and how they built that team in 2012.   I won’t fall for any of it until I see them play for a year
    • Lol people like you are so silly and the only reason I seem to care to log on to post these days. How can you sit there and say Bryce was the reason Williams hurt his knee on that play. Maybe it's because you dislike Bryce so you are somewhat blind as to what actually happened? Not quite sure but maybe you should get your eyes checked. Williams hurt himself by trying to make a cut after spinning around to make that catch. Pause it at 3:24. Had he landed and ran like normal instead of going to plant his foot in the ground and make a cut he doesn't get hurt. Don't put that on Bryce. That was 100% Williams fault he got injured
