That is simply not true at all.

????????????????????????????????????

They talk about upping the fines, ejections, suspensions every year. For hitting a QB in the head, in his legs, or even just driving him into the ground. This was not the case 10 years ago.

Thats just the punishment, thats not stopping the qb hits, sacks etc.   They are not making it harder to hit the qb but they are upping the penalties and fines on "illegal" hits.

those are huge fines... its causing players to change the way they are tackling. Demarcus Lawrence said that he and other NFL players have been training in Judo to practice takedowns that they wouldnt get fined for. He shared that trying to distribute your weight away from the QB when tackling is the only way they can avoid fines.

Players are paid weekly in the NFL... "game day checks" and those 25k fines are taking huge chunks out of their paychecks, bc the 25k fine isnt taxed.. they have to pay that after being taxed from their game day checks.

You are being naive to think that these players are not being cautious now with these rules and limitations in place.

So sacks and qb hits should be going down right?

QB hits are already down...

... sacks and hits are part of the game but the type of hits and sacks QBs take in the modern NFL are drastically different than years past.

That is the point the poster is making.

A lackluster offence that was wall-to-wall blue chip prospects?

What is an “illegal” hit has changed quite a bit

    • I think i like the Oregon Safety better
    • Do you see the vision?  As of now our Carolina Panthers don’t have an identity. We are not an offensive powerhouse and on defense we only started getting it together towards the end of the year last year. In my opinion we are much closer to having an incredible defense that scares the daylights out of people. I say the answer is simple and we fully commit to that possible identity.    Emmanuel McNeil Warren (E man)  This guy is like a shark lurking around ready to attack anyone. Fearless. He is easily a top 20 talent in my eyes, and the only reason he isn’t more talked about is because he’s from Toledo. Do your due diligence as panther fans and watch his tape I beg you. Once you’re done watching let me ask you this, if you dropped E - Man into the strong safety spot on the Buckeyes, he isn’t being talked about as one of the best prospects we’ve seen in some time given the skill set you see with this guy? I think so. Put his name on the card and turn it in at 19.    Jacob Rodriguez  High effort, High energy, High IQ guy that flies around the field. We all know Jacob at this point. My only concern is he’s a little bit too good and I’m not sure he makes it to us at our pick in the second. With the additions of Jacob and E- Man I think our defense goes to top 5 in the league. We would have a duo of linebackers that rival anything we’ve had in our past. I’m not a GM so I don’t know what the possible answer could be, but if there’s a way we can comfortably trade up in the second to secure this guy I think we find a way to do it.    Spend the rest of our picks fixing the O - line.    Thoughts Panthers fans? Who’s the ideal duo for yall?
    • OL is arguably much more important to the success of a young QB. (Or any QB)
