Yeah, sure 😆

I've said already I think it's Young and I'm okay with it, but it's also wise to keep all things in context.

For example, if you listen to the podcast you'll hear the above quote was in response to a direct question about Young. It's not like Fitterer just said that offhand.

Always check the context. Twitter quotes don't necessarily tell you everything.

Also worth noting, that question fitty gave that answer to was specifically about Young right?

Correct.

It's one of the things that feeds the confirmation bias some folks have. Reporters right now only seem to ask about Young. Then Fitterer answers a question and someone acts like he just spontaneously brought him up.

Nobody asks about Stroud. Then someone notes "Oh,he didn't mention Stroud" . Well, no he didn't...because he wasn't asked about him. If he did mention him unprompted, people's tongues would start wagging, so he's wise not to.

To be clear, I think Young is probably going to be the pick, but I've learned to never assume anything for certain until the actual pick is announced.

(hell, Jason Peter taught me that)

Yup. I’m with you, all signs point to Young, but there is a chance something else could happen…

He didn't talk about Richardson either...until he was asked about him.

It's a smart move if you're being cagey to not bring up anyone's name unless you're asked.

Actually he did talk about AR.  Briefly.  Not sure it’s on that podcast but he did on WFNZ this morning

wait are there actually people that think it's not gonna be Bryce?

I think it's down to one poster not believing it, but he is just in denial right now.  Give him time...  There are a couple that are grumpy about it, but that's ok.

I think Kaye said that the day of the press conference, it was either Tuesday or very soon I believe

He did say the decision would be made early next week but I don't remember him mentioning a presser.

They had one this week. Not sure why they'd need one again until the pick is made.

Sorry, I meant to say after the presser they held this week, Kaye mentioned it would be soon.

    • this     I never cease to be amazed at the number of people who will run up their blood pressure to get to the grocery store 30 seconds faster or are racing to get to work like it won’t be there at 8:02.   The only thing I’ve ever done that I think added more years to my life besides quitting smoking, was to learn to go with the flow behind the wheel.
    • The term you're looking for is "malinger(ed)", and he didn't.  I'm not sure why Panthers fans act like jaded ex girlfriends.  The dude is clearly injury prone as his time in San Fransico also proves. It's not like he got to San Fran and stopped having problems.
    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
