There are some decent FAs available still like Ngakoue, Clowny, Floyd, and Clark. I wonder if we sign one after the draft.

It's why I'm glad we went offense. We have some key young guys to build around on D. We traded away both of the young offensive skill position players we had to build around. Build around your QB. There are good stopgap defenders available.

you know what I've noticed about the draft? I almost made a thread about this.

doesn't it seem like over the last couple years since the pandemic draft that the first round features tons of fans in the front rows that look like they aren't real fans, just paid actors or models that dress up in teams gear and get paid to stand there and cheer? There was a seahawks fan, blonde bombshell, fake lips, all dolled up, literally only wearing a fresh Seahawks draft cap. Standing by herself, nobody else with her, and she was just dancing and clapping the whole time. Ain't no way she is a diehard Seahawks fan that paid BANK to sit front row like that.

they mix in some super fans too, but then you also see all these fake "superfans" dressed from head to toe in gear with like NFL draft custom props and outfits. there aint no fuggin way. it's all fake af. the real fans are all the way in the back. And watch, none of them will be there for the next day.

maybe I'm crazy, idk.

Oh I can guarantee they have "seat fillers" for lack of a better term.

Which one are you looking at? Mock draft database has him as 12th WR/79 overall on their consensus big board.

Espn had him 5th wr and 37th overall

Fox had him 70th overall and 6th wr

Draft profile had him as a 2nd round pick

Athlon had him as a 2nd/3rd pick

Walter as a 2nd/3rd round pick

There's another one or two that had him the 30-40 range I'm trying to find.

Few outliers like cbs and mock draft database.

That's media wise and most were way off this year. A few did really well compared to everyone else but they have or had actual scouts help them with their boards.

Scouting wise, maybe 15 players with first round GRADES. Tons with 2/3 grades and this class is varied and more volatile from team to team then most recent drafts.

    • Yes, he's a tier above them, but you also touched on the money side of it.  With T-Mac locked in as our #1 on a rookie contract for a few more years, I'd much rather use that money that would be needed for DJ on our defense and develop Coker into our #2.   Especially given his contract situation as an UDFA, as his contract is up at the end of this year but we can keep him around for a 3rd team controlled year on the real cheap.  Which means we probably could get him to sign a very reasonable extension this offseason to give him a little more money while giving us a bargain contract for what he provides. DJ's contract is north of $20 million for the next 5 years, why pay that for your #2 WR with the needs we have on defense and you have guys like Coker, XL, and Horn on rookie contracts who very well could combine to be a serviceable 2-4 WRs behind a stud in T-mac? I love DJ and he'd be a great fit on this team as our #2, but the money side of it just makes absolutely zero sense, that's all it comes down to for me on this one. And no, I don't see the Bears wanting XL back in that trade, because they drafted Burden, who is essentially a better version of what XL provides, a player you want to get the ball into their hands and let them go to work.
    • I didnt see that many bad calls in the panthers cowboys game, but the chiefs especially in the playoffs were getting every single call they could get then the refs when it didnt matter would throw a call towards the other teams.  That I believe was the taylor swift effect.   But its crazy just thinking about how easy it is to change a game.  You dont need but a single ref to make a few close calls go towards one team over the other and in the nfl that is the game.
    • I don't think it's unrealistically blaming Bryce Young......to say has been a reason, sometimes a big one, in why our pass offense overall has been extremely week over the past 3 collective seasons.  I think that bothering anyone, is just being overly invested in some Bryce Young argument.  It's just a reality.
