Our goals are all in front of us. Win tonight to go up 3-1 and close it out in Raleigh Thursday.  Our defense will play much better and so will our goalie. 
 

Canes simply don’t lose after getting beat like they did Sunday.

Gotta play way more positionally sound tonight - I can't stress enough how good NJ is with getting odd man breaks. I expect NJ to come out guns ablazing again to start the game. Weather the storm for the first 5-10 minutes and get to work from there.

We had a ton of hits on the devils last game, 46, much more than usual.  I thought Canes were more intent on going after the player than the puck. Not our usual game. Get back to our game and we win.

Rod needs to calm them down. I dunno if we get Andersen or Raanta in net tonight but we need to keep the game in front of us. We have been getting pucks in net. Which means less shots or errant passes needed. With last change they were able to exploit our ailing defensemen. We need to play like we did in the first two games allowing our defense to fall back to our blue line at the first sign of trouble and letting our 3 forwards handle the offense. If we get set and cycling then we can pinch the D up. We just played bad on Sunday, coupled with them fighting for their playoff lives was not good.

"Carolina’s inability to score has burned them in the playoffs the last couple of times. So when Max Pacioretty, Andrei Svechnikov and then Teuvo Teravainen all went down with injuries, it was fair to fear how the heck they would score enough this postseason. Instead, they’ve potted 3.38 goals per game offensively in the playoffs, which ranks fifth out of the 16 teams that made it.

The short explanation is they’ve done it by committee. Seattle’s been hailed as the king of scoring balance and they, for reference, have nine players who’ve scored at least four points through the 10 playoff games they’ve played. The Canes have 11 players who’ve hit that four-point mark and they’ve played one fewer game than the Kraken.

Seth Jarvis’ breakout has arguably been the most important difference compared to the regular season. The 21-year-old had an underwhelming sophomore campaign with 39 points in 82 games, despite getting long looks on the top line. He’s caught fire now, however, with four goals and eight points in nine games on the top line with Sebastian Aho.

Jarvis’ high-energy, tenacious play has come with improved finishing, resulting in the Canes outscoring opponents 10-3 at five-on-five with him and the first line on the ice."
