I was pretty sure Anderson was going to be drafted early, but I agree with Simms that Anderson isn't as good of a prospect as he was built up to be.  I think if the Cardinals scheme him to the QB he will put up good numbers.  But if they expect him to beat tackles on his own week in and week out, they are going to be disappointed.

William Anderson Jr. is an American football defensive end for the Houston Texans

Yeah, that one kinda confused me as well. Although, I do find that confusing me is so much easier than it used to be. So, I really wasn't too sure in the first place. lol

It’s not about the beginning of the year. Caleb Williams finished college football this year as the best QB in college football. And that’s why he was awarded the awards. Bryce was terrific. Caleb was just better. And he’s a better pro prospect due to his size, arm strength and speed compared to Bryce.

That’s why there’s many articles like this: https://www.pff.com/news/draft-2023-all-eligible-nfl-mock-draft

Bears, and I agree, would not have traded out of first overall if Caleb was on the board. And they’d take him with Fields on the roster.

Here’s another about how Caleb would have been the first pick in this class and even last years class: https://247sports.com/Article/Caleb-Williams-would-be-first-QB-selected-in-2023-or-last-years-NFL-Draft-if-eligible-analyst-says-200236324/

https://clutchpoints.com/usc-football-news-jordan-addison-caleb-williams-nfl-draft

Here is an article on the athletic where they interviewed coaches: https://theathletic.com/4453949/2023/04/26/nfl-draft-quarterback-class-analysis/

Some preferred Stroud, some Young but even at the bottom there’s a quote where the person said Williams is significantly better than these prospects. By the time the season was over it was clear Williams was the best QB on any college field this year, Young included.

Lets have Williams declare for the draft, get drafted and play a snap in the NFL before we crown him anything.  He wasn't in this draft.  The draft is over.

What Panthers fan gives a shlt about Williams atm?

It's weird because Corral and Young don't look much different in size here.  According to Fitt Corral is up to 220 and he was what 6'2"?

Young clearly looks much more fragile than Corral who's so durable because, you know, he weighs more.

Bryce hasn’t taken a snap in the NFL either. The conversation was around best QB in college. It was Williams.  I don’t “give a poo” about Williams anymore than any other college prospect. I’m just not going to put blinders on and lie to myself and pretend Young was better than he is.

The conversation is around Sims top 40.  That is top 40 in the NFL.

The conversation you are quoting me from was not. It was about Bryce as a prospect in college the last few years. Somebody said he was the number 1 prospect two years in a row and I disagreed.

And I'm the second person to tell you that Bryce, as a current player in the NFL who appears on Sims top 40, makes sense to discuss.  Williams, who is still in college, makes no sense.  As much as you want, he can't be on the list yet.  But go on, keep repeating yourself with the Williams worship.

The caveat of that conversation being the other user saying Bryce was the best QB in college. I pointed out he wasn’t. Maybe don’t show up to a conversation four days late or if you think Williams isn’t part of a valid discussion around who the best QB in college is, keep it moving rather than keep the conversation going.

It’s hardly worship to say Williams is the best QB in college this past season. I have maybe 10 comments about Williams on this forum. Significantly less than other QB prospects. Worship would be closer to having a guy as your profile picture before we even draft him. Like you.

lol

I chose my avatar during the pre-draft to show support for the best QB.  If we chose someone else I would have changed to support our QB.

I really enjoy knowing you like it.

Its an awesome time to be a Panther.  Cheer up friend! 🤣🤣

Man why are you always so negative?

There are a couple of things about Bryce that are not mentioned enough in my opinion. His work ethic is second to none. His attitude and wanting to grow and learn is also going to be huge in his development. I think he realizes he has to have every advantage possible to have a successful career. This will help him immeasurably and endear him to his teammates.

    • Fug Em!   Lil bastard was milking injuries most of his time here. The moment he leaves he's all of a sudden a workhorse RB and a MVP candidate.   *Poo me up I'm a big boy I can handle it.
    • Another source: NFL Rumors: Hakeem Butler to Visit Panthers After UFL Success, Wade Phillips' Praise ZACH BACHAR JUNE 10, 2024 The Carolina Panthers are expected to conduct a workout with UFL wide receiver Hakeem Butler, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Butler recorded a league-leading 652 receiving yards as a member of the St. Louis Battlehawks. He was previously a fourth-round draft pick by the Arizona Cardinals in 2019. After the Battlehawks were defeated by the San Antonio Brahmas in the XFL Conference title game, Brahmas head coach and longtime NFL coach Wade Phillips told the receiver that "I'm going to tell everybody in the NFL that I talk to that you need to be playing," via Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk. Despite the loss by St. Louis, Butler still hauled in six receptions for a team-high 59 receiving yards. The 28-year-old was named the 2024 UFL Offensive Player of the Year, as he was one of only two wideouts to have multiple games with at least 100 receiving yards. While the Panthers added Diontae Johnson and first-round rookie Xavier Legette to their wide receiver room in the offseason, they could still use some depth in the form of Butler. Carolina isn't opposed to picking up former UFL players, as Rapoport revealed on Thursday that the team is also "expected" to sign All-UFL receiver Daewood Davis. Although Butler was selected by the Cardinals in the 2019 draft, he did not play as a rookie due to a hand injury and only appeared in two regular-season games as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2020. He did not record a catch. Butler signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers during the 2023 offseason, although he ultimately didn't make the team's regular-season roster. At 6'5", he has the frame to potentially make an impact in training camp and earn a shot at making Carolina's 53-man roster. If his workout goes well with the Panthers, Butler could give himself another chance to possibly return to the NFL.
