Jordan Staal Is Back With The Canes

Recommended Posts

4 years for Jordan is...odd.

Unpopular take I know but even at that number, he doesn't have 4 years in him I don't think. At least not at the level of play we expect out of him. He's entering that Justin Williams return to Carolina territory where sure he'll lead us, win faceoffs and generally be a great guy, but it's time. I'm fine for next season, but if we need a spark, his spot is literally the spot to inject somebody fresh imo.

Heard on 100.9 that Aho and the team are closing in on an extension as well. Pesce should be done this week.

Pesce about to be gone. No shot we can afford him after inking Aho. Could be wrong, but that means our lines are gonna look different quickly.

I think those last two years are going to suck but Jordo should be good for the first two.

It's a deal that almost guarantees he retires a Cane and also provides him a nice parachute when he does.

This. He’s basically getting 5.8 for two years is my guess. Or 11.6 if we win a cup this season.

Those last two years may see Jordo play 4th line C and situational hockey for crucial face offs etc.

Of course he could surprise us and still be playing at a decent clip in years 3 and 4.

He's steady, a great presence in the locker room and our best FO man.  Glad it got done.

Honestly, I think jordo is 3c until he retires, at least if Rod is still around. We all thought he was done in the Covid years, in yet he’s still proven to be a powerhouse.

    • I would say that seems like an odd comment from Morgan, but at the same time it's almost impossible to find a college QB declaring for the draft to have less physical ability than BY so you can assume almost anyone you bring in would be your go to QB sneak/designed run guy.
    • Gronk is the best TE of all time, but he also played with Brady. Clarke was great, but had Peyton and in an era TE's didn't make crazy money. Kittle is great, but the two times he's made the SB, he was still on his rookie contract for one, and the other the 49ers had Purdy on a cheap rookie deal which help them build the rest of the roster. So again, it's not about not wanting an elite TE, of course it would be nice.  But realistically, in today's NFL, unless that elite TE with a top end TE salary is on a team with a GOAT level QB and/or other serious cap savings (i.e. key players on rookie deals), then I think it's not a good use of cap space.
    • This place was the poo pre tepper with tons of hilarious posters like phillyB. Joined in the 2000s during the 07 season and have been here bitching about this team since. but yeah its sadly been dying a slow death, every time I come to this site I am surprised its still up. I think the 2015 season was the absolute peak, the Panthers and this board especially just haven't "felt" the same since then. Igo should really sell the board since he clearly doesn't care anymore. Also, Reddit blows and the Bryce defenders on there need Jesus.
