Didn't say that was for all 4 years. That was last season stats.

He was behind Parsons, Garrett and Bosa in QB pressures and hurries last season. Just those 3 and 8th in sacks.

In 2021 he had 48 hurries and 37 pressures with 9 sacks.

Isn’t that cherry picking?  Need to be looking at career stats if we are going to talk about paying him TJ Watt and Joey Bosa money.

1 year of production (7+ sacks) over 3 years as a pro vs 4 years in 4 years , Highsmith is an older player, has way less pressures and qb hits since being drafted compared to Burns in the same time period.

Why is 7+ the benchmark for productive seasons. Wouldn’t be because Burns had a 7.5 sack season and Highsmith had a 6.5 one? Very convenient. And Highsmith is less than 9 months older. He also played less because Bud Dupree was ahead of him as a rookie. Highsmith led the nfl in forced fumbles this year. Add in better run defense by far and there is no way Burns is worth 10M/yr more than him. Or any more at all.

Those are all pass rushing stats though.  Guys better than Burns statistically like Reddick aren’t in the Bosa tier of pay.

Haha I just told him he’s cherry picking also.  Career stats show Burns simply isn’t in the same world as top tier guys.  He’s a 15M/year guy right now.  He’s gotta get better against the run, and consistently show that he can finish plays.

Nope picked a random number, coulda made it 6 and it woulda been 4 in 4 vs 2 in 3. Doesn't matter. Lol

Burns also effects the qb way more with pressures and hurries.

Those are much better than forcing turnovers and not getting bull-dozed on run plays

At this point let the guy hold out.  Fine him 50K per day per the CBA, he will owe use a couple million in fines, not earn any of his 2023 salary, lose an accrued season, and be back where he started next year, still owing us a season under his rookie deal.  Ask LeVeon Bell how such a move works out?

No it isn't cherry picking, I simply posted his stats from the most recent season. Which is a better indicator of his future production compared to a 7.5 sack rookie season where he played 43% of snaps. Last season he played 87% of snaps.

Question- if Burns sits does he still get paid his current contract or does he forfeit all pay?

50K per day fine and likely forfeits most of his pay per the CBA.  Differs slightly per contract, but there’s likely language in there, especially being a rookie deal.  After so many games (I think 8), the season no longer accrues and it’s as if the contract year never happened.  So he’d be back where he started, with nothing earned  and millions lost in fines.

Yet when comparing him to Highsmith, you only wanted to talk entire careers and not just most recent season. So which is it?

Oh to add for someone who said that Burns hasn't said anything publicly... he did back in June.

He has publicly stated that he expects to be one of the highest paid edge rushers in the NFL. So yea, Myles Garret, Nick Bosa money is what he wants.

    • Been here since middle school right when it started around 2003 after the charlotte.com one. Living outside of Carolina it was tough to find good Panthers content, news or analysis. And no one to talk to about it. This place gave me a lot though I don’t often post. In the later days, I particularly Loved PhillyB’s write ups. They were fire. Too bad I go let it go. I appreciate the hell out of @MHS831 @TheSpecialJuan @Jackie Lee and others who have been posting great content and keeping this place worth coming back to. Particularly during the offseason. Appreciate y’all!
    • Nice explanation, but I was just messing with you. Thought that would be obvious. I dont have the energy to keep on trolling. Last season I compared our situation with Bryce as a potential Alex Smith, but what we should be looking for is our version of Mahomes. Some people will read that as one sentence, to me that single sentence is equivalent to a half A4 explanationf of the teams pathway forward.
    • I dont know how much of his salary would come across and how much a trade would cost but I feel Kmet would be the sort of TE Canales and Morgan would like
