I don't know why this is so hard to grasp. We'd all be celebrating if he was playing great. The reality is that he hasn't been. It is what it is. Hopefully he improves.

Some folks don't want discussion but an echo chamber of blind praise.

It looked to me like he was hesitating and second guessing everything. I don't know if he's hesitating because he's questioning his reads or hesitating because he's questioning his ability to make the throws.

Like is said in my earlier post. I think he is hesitant to rip it on the first or second read in part due to lack of separation. That’s normal rookie stuff. Not Sam Darnold I’m seeing ghosts. That’s just an over exaggeration in my opinion.

He did that because he was looking at the defense. Miles Sanders even said as much. It’s happened before. You’re putting way too much stock in that one moment.

I actually want him to succeed. I was one of his biggest fans during the draft process. Im just saying he has not looked good so far.

I think it's more mental at this point. He seems to be struggling with the speed of the game. This Oline also not helping him out and the WR's are just not very good.

Lol MFers really think Dalton was all world yesterday?? This message board is hilarious bad at watching football.

That's the point. Dalton is mediocre at best but that's how low the bar has been for passing after the first two weeks. We don't need our QB to be Cam Newton but we do need him to be above the likes of Teddy Bridgewater. If that's all we're getting we didn't need to trade up at all this year we could have saved those resources.

I think the issue people have with your takes is that they are extremely surface level.  When it comes to Bryce, you basically just keep saying "Man that Bryce guy just straight up looks BAD!".  But we can all see, even in this very thread, that when someone points out how objectively awful of a game Howell had, all of a sudden you're very nuanced: "Well he had a bad game, but wow that was such awful protection.  They really need to fix the protection.  They also need to do a better job of establishing a run game to open up play action.  Oh and they need better playcalling - more screens and slants to open up the deep pass".  Like...what?  You could say the exact same thing with Bryce.  But instead, it's "Yoooo Bryce frickin SUX amirite???".

Howell has looked good in two games and bad in one game. Bryce has looked bad in two games and good in zero. It is what it is. Just ignore the actual statistical facts I've talked about.

I think it’s fair to criticize him. He is clearly smart and has great acumen, which makes his struggles surprising. I also think there has been some signs of good play. Like you said the context also matters and he just has not had the support that anyone expected. It sucks, but it’s gonna take time.

Yeah but you are also completely neglecting the fact that the Falcons and Saints both have significantly better defenses than the Seahawks which might be why the receivers were more open yesterday than the first two weeks.

It really seems like you're looking for reasons to hate the kid without letting things shake out.

"After the first two games he ever played he holds onto the ball forever but the 13 year former franchise QB who was an average starter didn't. VERY concerning."

Like, chill. Give the kid some grace.

Dang.

I don't hate the kid. I want him to be great. It's okay to talk about what we've seen so far.

I absolutely don't.  But I'm not going to distort reality. Reality is that Bryce has been bad and Dalton was significantly better yesterday. That sucks, but like I said that is just cold hard reality. Going around being on utter denial doesn't make you a good fan. Any decent fan hopes Bryce will improve and be a great QB. But any rational fan has to admit that he hasn't been good so far. Sorry.

The team has not been good. The team was not good yesterday. You’re pointing out that Dalton played well as some sort of indictment on Bryce. It’s not. There’s a lot that goes into Dalton playing well yesterday.

For starters Chark playing 97% of the offensive snaps contributes to that. The only threat to stretch the field and he wasn’t available game 1 for Bryce and played limited snaps in game 2.

Secondarily the first time the Seahawks don’t give up 300 yards passing to a team will be the first time they’ve done so this season.

You don’t believe in Bryce, didn’t want him so you’re pulling together outcomes without context to validate that. If the offense didn’t put up numbers against a bad defense absent of half their starters then yea Frank should have been fired.

All that for a damn loss. But it wasn’t Bryce and it was “productive” so you feel validated. It’s flawed and I’m going to call it out when I see it.

Agreed. In the second game especially he just looked really hesitant to throw and like you said, like he was second guessing everything.

I don't think think the staff is blind to this. As critical as I have been of situational offensive play calling, these guys do know NFL football. The more I think about it and look at the numbers and it just sinks in how much better the passing game ran with Dalton the more I do think that the ankle was just an excuse to pull Bryce out of the fire and give him a minute to reset and regroup.

If you think Dalton would have had the same success against the Saints D idk really what else there is to say. Two totally different defenses playing two totally different schemes.

However you need to cope. If you need a villain I'm here for it. 😂

Y’all UNC boys will defend the atrocious Will Grier to death but Bryce is a bust lol. It’s been two games. As frustrating as that reality is to compartmentalize into a rationale thought about his QB development, it’s true. If Drake Maye was having Bryce’s struggles in a Carolina Panthers uniform, 75% of this board would be banned for the things that have been said. Love ya Lin, but let’s give our guy a shot.
