the three man rush...

just to give you a little info on those 3 man rushes that worked so well against the vikings...

they were a 3-2-6 formation. not sure how many of you noticed it but we used the same lineup for all of those formations.

DL: peppers-brayton-brown

LB: beason-anderson (anderson kept getting switched from the left to the right side all night...no real consistency).

CBs: gamble-marshall (slot)- munnerlynn

Ss: Godfrey-Wesley-Harris

they ran this 11 times (out of 49 defensive plays). vikings only converted on one of those plays. the rest resulted in 3 and outs, a fumble, or an INT. there were 2 sacks that came from these plays as well (peppers and wesley).

1st Qtr:

3-10-MIN 37 (8:03) (Shotgun) PENALTY on MIN-74-B.McKinnie, False Start, 5 yards, enforced at MIN 37 - No Play.

3-15-MIN 32 (7:38) (Shotgun) 4-B.Favre pass short left to 28-A.Peterson to MIN 37 for 5 yards (41-C.Munnerlyn).

result: vikings punt

3-6-CAR 21 (4:03) (Shotgun) 4-B.Favre pass incomplete short middle to 81-V.Shiancoe (90-J.Peppers).

result:vikings FG

3rd Qtr:

3-5-MIN 46 (14:12) (Shotgun) 4-B.Favre pass incomplete deep right to 81-V.Shiancoe (21-D.Wesley).

3-7-MIN 48 (10:07) (Shotgun) 4-B.Favre sacked at MIN 43 for -5 yards (21-D.Wesley).

result: vikings punt

2-18-MIN 40 (6:07) 4-B.Favre pass short right to 18-S.Rice to CAR 37 for 23 yards (30-C.Godfrey). FUMBLES (30-C.Godfrey), RECOVERED by CAR-43-C.Harris at CAR 37. 43-C.Harris to CAR 37 for no gain (12-P.Harvin).

result: vikings fumble, panthers recover

3-7-MIN 14 (2:56) (Shotgun) 4-B.Favre sacked at MIN 8 for -6 yards (90-J.Peppers).

result: vikings punt

1-10-MIN 21 (3:02) (Shotgun) 4-B.Favre pass short left to 28-A.Peterson to CAR 16 for 63 yards (41-C.Munnerlyn).

Minus the thinned out D-Line Ron Meeks has brought it this year.

Fox and his confidence in Jake screwed this team months ago.

Agreed our defense has played well for most of the year, and I imagine that next year will be even better for that unit.

    • When we have everyone playing like they should, we can win the Cup. That has been the biggest problem when we get to the playoffs, but this year seems to be fixed mostly. We could have had multiple if we had done this in the past.
    • Here we go Bryce Stan’s you should love this. Hell it may be one of you.  It has every cliche excuse and then some.  Unintentionally hilarious my limit was reached when he said Bryce had it hard because four play callers.
    • Luke goes in to the specifics of what he looked to accomplish in joint practices.  Basically they may work with someone on the opposing team to stress something they feel is a weakness in their own game in a different way that can be done with someone they are familiar with. That they can have predetermined stresses but since neither wants to get injured and it has absolutely no bearing on anything there is not the level of concern that would be in a preseason game.  He would also even chat with opposing OC.   It seems like an interesting nuance among the vets and savy pros.
