Boldin will get traded

Oh yeah, very. If Warner can make Steve f**king Breaston look good, I'm not ready to consider anybody on the team legit, except Fitz. Getting 1000 yard seasons doesn't mean poo on that team. Every receiver on that team seemed to be doing it by accident in 2008, yup even Breaston lol. Boldin could just look good because his QB knows how to get his players the ball and not the other way around.

poo, if we're gonna franchise Peppers (who everyone but us considers a top talent) only to trade him, I'd rather we trade for some draft picks or what I would refer to as "standalone" players. I mean, we don't have a Kurt Warner on this team, who even knows if Boldin would be succesful here. I think Boldin is just a product of good QB play in a pass-first offense. I'd rather look elsewhere.

Oh yeah, and he's 30. wtf

I didn't realize Boldin was that old. 30 isn't terribly old but he ain't a young gun anymore. I don't think it would be a good move. I think the Panthers need to invest in more young players instead of keeping the "win now" philosophy of this past year. We have a young team and giving up draft picks to get Boldin with a big ? at QB wouldn't be the best move. Just my opinion.

PS - Boldin is not a product of a good QB. He set the rookie record for receptions with Josh McCown at QB.

Puleazze! Boldin was making a name for himself BEFORE the emergence of Fitz. The guy is solid on the playing field, and it isn't an accident. Of course Warner makes WRs look good because he throws a damned good ball. Breaston isn't a bad WR. WTH?

It's below average to average QBs that can take the wind out of the sails of a good WR because they can't throw an accurate pass or make a decision to force the ball into coverage as opposed to the open man. Any WR still has to catch the ball if given a good opportunity, and tht's what Boldin has done his whole career.

Boldin is a proven playmaker!

he did great with poor QB play for a long time, warner didn't really solidify the position until 07

I'm not ready to bank on Jordan Shipley being good enough to play over some of the WRs we already have.

We need a LEGITIMATE #2 option to Steve, not a 25 year old system receiver out of college. I like Shipley but not enough to pass on getting Boldin.

With Boldin's injury history I wouldn't want to trade too much for him. Like I said...I'd be fine with a second rounder NEXT year but no first rounders and not our first pick this year either. He could end up straining his hammy again and we would have nothing but a big fat contract.

Being a run first team doesn't automatically mean a team has average QBing. That's ignorant.

I agree with you totally, on an intellectual level, but we are talking about Foxball. And, yes, I am blaming Fox because the calls stop with him. How in the hell can your decisions lead to making Smitty look bad for 75 percent of the season?

Perhaps Fox has gotten to the age where he has lost his functions. Putting Smitty and Boldin in his hands is like putting Buffie The Body and J-lo in the hands of Adam Lambert: he won't know what to do with them.

"run first team"="team lead by poor to average QBing"

That is not true. Look at our team during our SB season when Jake was great. We has the weapons with our great WRs & RBs at that time. That is one of the reason we got to the SB along with the killing defenses. Heck, look at Favre. Still a better QB than an average & they still run the ball a lot.

    • The problem that Bryce faces is his lack of prototypical tools.  He's not the tall, strong armed mobile QB that tends to get drafted first overall.  His game is not played in underwear on a practice field.  His best asset are his intangibles.  They aren't sexy like a cannon arm or a fast 40 yard dash. OK, so we took the lesser athlete.  Bryce put up a pretty bad season with a bad team around him.  The coaching staff, for all it's platitudes, sucked.  They made sure Bryce could run a huddle, but didn't help him get better as a player.  Bad choice. Compare that to what other teams did to their Rookies:  they put them in position to succeed with better personnel and better play calling.  Sure, there are physical differences which are going to affect the outcomes, but you can't change it. Am I trying to ride to the defense of Bryce?  Only a little.  He's my favorite team's QB, and I believe in him.  Now, he's got this year to show that he's "the No. 1 for a reason" (Thanks CJ Stroud).  Will he, won't he?  I don't know at all.  That's on the D&D crew to put Bryce is position to play well.  Running the ball is going to make things a lot easier for Bryce.  Does that discount his success if he plays well?  For some of y'all it will.  Some of y'all just don't like Bryce, like he stole you DoorDash or something. Regardless, let's see what happens in 2024.  If Bryce stinks it up, then we're going back to the QB well again.
    • we may think we know, but we don't know. we won't know what effect upgrades on the OL, coaching staff, and WR room will have. we don't know what scheme canales is going to put together. we don't know a lot of things.  that's why we play the games...to see what shakes out. plenty of reasons to think Bryce is limited this year...again. Plenty of reasons to see an improvement in his play.
    • He did not elevate the players around him, but they de-elevated their QB.  A QB like Bryce needs a system, a strong OL, a Running game, and WRs that can get open.  Call him a manager at best, but so is a point guard.  That is all we should need.  He is smart enough to grow into a very effective player.  I once saw a Coach talking about the OL--i forget who it was Schottenheimer comes to mind--and he said, you can succeed if you have one weak link on the OL.  If you get 2 weak links, success comes 10x harder.  If you get three weak links, your season is over.  Your QB is injured, and you are unemployed (paraphrasing).  I would say that we had 4 weak links (Icky does not get a pass) and a RB who was not good at pass blocking. I am not saying the Bryce is the answer at QB--but I am saying we don't know yet. I know QBs (college) and when the OL sucks, they collapse mentally over time.  That is what we saw--a QB who had never played without the advantage.
